Spot-on FabCat, we do get 8kg odd from a batch and by the time I take out beans for work, home and some other sources then the amount on offer will be closer to 5kg of each batch.

The new BeanBay software will do a good job of keeping track of the moving target.

Well Im sure hed be selling roasted coffee by the roasted weight like every other roaster.
I agree with that, I probably wasnt clear in what I wrote. What I meant was that in the first post, it mentions "10kg of each bean will be available to purchase" and I was thinking that since it is a 10KG roaster, there is more likely to be about 8KG of each bean available. So if you put 10KG up for sale, then it might take you two roasts to reach 10KG of roasted beans. I was just thinking that he might need to consider selling say 8KG of roasted beans instead. Better to work this stuff out now than after they start selling.

I could be wrong about all of that. Maybe the 10KG rating of the roaster is an optimum number but you can roast more than that if you want. I dont know as I am not familiar with professional gear.

Congratulations on an awesome set up.

Just wondering if you might have to account for loss of bean mass when offering this for sale. By that I mean, for a 10KG roast, would there be say 8.3KG or so of roasted beans for sale?

    Just estimating from this:

We have been roasting away like crazy for a while now but none of it for general sale.

With anyluck the next couple of weeks should see it in BeanBay as a roast on demand item.

Ill be sure to let EVERYONE know!

Forgive my ignorance/short-sightedness but is there an approximate ETA on the Brown?

    Woah!

A very impressive looking set of hardware. Now, what does it actually do?;-)

If that coffee is going to taste as good as it looks then please show me where I can sign my life away.

EDIT: nvm Ill go sign up in BeanBay as suggested in an earlier post.

    caffaddict,

BeanBay is our "Co-op" like bean market for the purchase of top quality green beans....

Once a month, Andy (the God of green bean supplies)... posts a selection of beans for our purchase... Prior to that he samples lots of beans and makes the best available for us.

You register your details in BeanBay.... and you will get an email each month giving the appointed time for the sale.... you buy as many or as few varieties on offer as you wish in 2.5Kg lots.... or multiples thereof....

And its heaps of fun ... and VERY addictive!!
VERY NICE! looking forward to it. thanks for the info JavaB!

    Very nice new toy!

Is that a punching bag behind the roaster in the first photo? :-?
A dust extracter would be a better name for it......... The whole thing sure is impressive... I am very impressed. Well done guys.

    Great setup.
I will be very interested in trying some roasted varieties when they become available.

I wonder what the cost of a 1kg version of your beast would be? (not to do you out of business or anything) :P
