Re: Victorian Barista Championships - Sun. 25th Ma

Im sure that it will be better organised that MFW (and I can think of some great words to assign to those letters) AKA Melb Food and Wine are for Wicked Sunday...Sad that Joe Average gets no info tho...Where is that publicity machine?

Picture a bump in with big trucks and 20+ employees ready to get everything organised....The crew gets there at the pre-appointed and booked time to do their thing...Meanwile the MFWs have yet to even erect the tents....

What was that about a beer in a brewery?  :

I love the fact that I no longer have anything whatsoever to do with it or them

Luca (or anyone else who might know),

Any way of knowing who will be up at what time?
Im hoping to come by, but wont be able to be there for the whole thing.

    Brett.

P.S. - Daylight saving ends in Victoria Sunday 25th @ 0300, so be sure to put your clocks BACK one hour before you go to bed on Saturday night/Sunday morning and hopefully you wont be the first person there at 11AM (in your opinion) thinking "Where is everyone?"

    Hi David,

I wasnt able to go to the qualifier, but I think that the placings were something like:

    Dave (Veneziano)
    Cassie (First Pour)
Toshi (St Ali) - Go Toshi!
    Con (7 Grams)
    Erin (HQ)
    Simon (HQ)
Zoe (Michels Patisserie; Growers Espresso last year)

Then theres apparently a tasmanian competitor ... not too sure on the details there.

Peter was obviously very happy that baristi using his coffee came 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th.

On Sunday I will be going to "barista b!tch" for the Veneziano competitors. If Im able to, Ill help out clearing up and stuff. So Ill be there, but flitting about the place rather than enjoying the show.

    Cheers,

    Luca

PS. Thanks for your help running the judges accreditation session on Wednesday, Dave. Im sure wed still be clearing up after the sensory evaluation if you werent there!

Victorian Barista Championships - Sun. 25th March

    Hello All,

I just received the generic invitation to the VBC from Nathan Wakeford (Mr_Nang on the forums), who has been working his $#@ off organising it. Naturally, I thought that I should post the invite here so that everyone can come.

Nathan has put a lot of thought into running a smooth event that everyone will enjoy. There is a qualifier event on the Thursday beforehand, so the Sunday event will just be a finals. This will hopefully make it short, sharp and snappy as well as giving the Vic champ the experience of competing twice before competing in the Australians. I also understand that Nathan has set up another marzocco for the competitors to make their coffee on for the audience, free of charge. Add the blowtorches, foams and other shenanigans for signature drinks and it should be great!

    Cheers,

    Luca
