Re: NSW Barista Championships - Sun. 1st April
Hazel and Alex didnt compete.
Results:
1st. Scottie
2nd. Sebastian
3rd. Tom
4th. Ben
Scotts focus & zone was so incredibly intense... I have never seen anything like that before, that includes being in the corner of professional fighters. It really is something else. His presentation & service was also first class, reminded me and made me feel like I was in a three hat restaurant like establishment. Scottie was also most gracious winning, pure class.
Sebastians performance was also really well presented... seemed pretty cool under the pressure. He used a SO, Yemen Ismali, as his choice.
I didnt see Toms unfortunately.
Ben was also another one who handled the pressure really well.. he had a 3 bean blend of various Brazilian beans from Tony at Rio. His shots were shorter, more ristretto-like and looked so damn good, but he said while he scored the highest for taste, he was marked down for it in other areas.
A guy called Luke who was first up was another one that stood out to me..
I didnt really see many other presentations, but regardless of win or lose, everyone deserves respect & kudos for stepping up and putting it on the line. They have gained far more than those who didnt.
A shout out also has to go out to the judges and those involved in running the event: Ben, Emily, Paul, Rob, Keith, Hazel (judging) + other judges I dont know the names of. A lot of unpaid work & time went in on their behalf.
