Thanks to everyone too from me.

    Congratulations to Ben.
Even if Id gotten the hang of the Vibiemme I couldnt have possibly topped etching Andy.

And just in case it helps next year, Andy not only looks younger but taller and thinner as well.

Good stuff Ben- it was just a tad crazy in there....I had a "lunch" break of 5 min at about 3 or something and did manage to get to the bathroom as well....at about 4.... :
Hey Chris, I was the guy that interrupted your lunch to say gday. Sorry to do that to you, but it was certainly good to meet you.

    Youre a scream, Dennis!.

As a non-participant (in Melbourne, and worked yesterday anyway) Id also like to thank everyone who went, competed, and posted.

    Why?

Ive enjoyed immensely absorbing the atmosphere and fun vicariously here on Coffeesnobs.

I believe that if there is a common theme among the posts, it is this: our beloved leader is a great guy who looks younger than his hirsute avatar.

Thanks for the feedback Andy - Ive already started working on some additions to the lumpy spud. Watch out for the twisted turnip and the crazy choko! ;D

Excellent pics Jason... really does capture the event.
Love the grumpy son shot and all the unusual angle pictures.

It really was a fun arvo out, pity we have to wait another 12 months for the next one.

Its only a one day event?

    Madness!

Coffee requires greater time than that. Besides, I want a two-day excuse to some to Sydney.

Perhaps it is time for a 2 day event...

Sell the old tamper, keep the new one and enjoy the shots.....Congrats again!

Thanks for contributing to the shoot-out prize, and Im the one who is sorry for not being able to come by to meet you and thank you personally. And given how packed the hall was, Im not sure I would have found you!

I have enjoyed the tamper... Ive actually got one already! In fact its the exact same one - Gun Metal Grey and all. Now, I have to figure out what to do with the extra. Im actually looking to start roasting my own beans, so perhaps I could sell it and buy some roasting equipment instead?

Well, hope to see you next year perhaps?

Really great to hear eveything went so well- we had to scoot after the second round with some tired and hungry kids.

Many thanks to Ofra and Renzo and the Di Bartoli team.

    Thanks to Andy.

    Thanks to Chris.

And a very big thanks to all the plucky CSers who stood up to show what great coffee home baristas are capable of producing!

I had planned to downdose for the shootout. The majority of my time was taken up by dialing the grinder for the lower dose. The espresso turned out very nice, as Andy pointed out.

Those tables almost spelt disaster as my monstrous frame was nearly toppling them with immense tamping force!

Was slightly ruffled at the end, with a slightly increased dose leading to more of a ristretto pull for the latte. Forced to use a bit more milk than I had liked to make up the volume, but some froth came out.

I tried to get in and say hello to Chris, but he was hard at work at the ECM stand, and I was in a bit of a hurry to catch up to my family.

It was a great day at Aroma.......great to put faces to names and avatars as well as. Good to meet Andy who is younger than his picture suggests........

It is an eye opener when you are thrown at unfamiliar equipment and the pressure of the 10 minute competition as it disappears so quickly, but it was fun. Congratulations to Ben on the final round win.......he also had his own cheer squad there on the day......

I thought Andy told me he was an IT dude, but reading his scoring notes Im sure he must be a diplomat!!

Thanks again to Renzo and Ofra for the time assigned to CS for the comp.........and Im sure all that participated had fun and came away with new knowledge at being put on the spot with unfamiliar equipment the noise of the crowd and Aaron continually announcing the remaining time.

Great pics, Jason. No "say cheese" for the contestants here -- all appropriately deeply ensconsed in concentration.

Good to see the faces behind the pseuedonyms.
