Re: Who is keen for a Sydney Coffee Crawl?

Yes a good time was had by Trinity and I.

Trin took a bit of a shine to TGs wife Anne - they were drawing and making shapes from one of my bracelets, TG could you thank her for taking the time to spend the time when there was no expectation to.
I enjoyed all 3 places I went to - Cordial, Campos and Toby, but for me campos was tarnished by the aroma fest crowds in such a small space!!
From a newby perspective the coffee from all 3 was good, but Cordial won for me because of atmosphere and staff. Great latte art as well.

It was good to meet some of the CS crew, my gosh you know coffee!!!! I didnt get to circulate around much, but it was still good to have quick chats with people and listen in on some of the stuff that was being bantered around.

As a pretty cool side note - We have some good friends who live in Newtown - 1 used to live with us when Trinity was first born - but they normally come out to us as they do not have kids, anyway long story short, I thought Id call them up to see if they were around - they called back just as we were leaving Tobys .
ME:Can you give me directions to your house.
NAT: Do you know where Carillon ave is?
ME:YEAH!! Trin and I were just there this morning having brekkie at a cafe
    NAT:It wasnt Cordial was it??
ME:This is like very scary bizarre, but yeah do you know it.
NAT:Know it, if you had have looked up to the 4th floor above the cafe you would have seen our balcony!!!

Sooooo...... we just had to meet back at cordial so they could have their regular Sat morning Brunch - they are regulars and had no idea it was considered one of the best coffee drinking cafes around.
Hung out for a while went to a park, then fought the parra road traffic home.

Good morning, pleasant surprise of a lunch, dodgey run home but lets face it I got to chat with my little chicky and that was cool - AND she was the one who conned me into the trip to Tobys cause she didnt get her promised babycino at campos  ;D

Have a good one, I hope we all get unwired before bedtime

Hey, Dennis, was that a pic of my flat white at Cordial? It looks superb. Great shot.
Yes it was scoota - I think any WBC would be proud of that rosetta!

Hey folks! Just woke up...lol that cafe crawl really takes it out of ya!

First coffee made at home...scoota arrived and off we went to Cordial...Thank goodness I chose to have 3 of the 10 coffees I had this morning at Cordial, as I think the consensus was that Cordial produced the best coffee by far of all the cafes we visited.

The company was tops and so was the brekkie and coffee...

Then on to Campos...where it was busy and the coffee was bitter! I was really disappointed in the coffee. Its a pity because the staff were really switched on, remembering orders and seeming to be unflappable.

Tobys has a unique feel about it. You can look through a window at their stock of coffee and maybe even make out their roaster. The coffee there is mellow, though definitely weaker than any of the other cafes. Their espresso was really well-balanced, though maybe that was because it was really a ristretto! The artwork wasnt as good as Cordial or Campos either.

Finally we ended up at Mecca - pleasant staff and coffee was good too, though the foam on the latte didnt hold for long.

If I were ranking these places, there is absolutely no doubt that Cordial were well ahead in every way. The staff were friendly and professional. All the coffee tasted great and looked fantastic. They were consistent, and their brekkie was terrific (excellent poached eggs). These guys deserve a perfect score and when I go back toward the city for coffee and/or brekkie, Cordial will be where I head!

It was great to catch up with everyone for breakfast this morning, sorry KT and I had to leave after Cordial. It looks like you had fun the rest of the day!

;D You dont know how many times Ben had to say "Frown!" at me to get the one of me frowning at the coffee at Campos! In the end I had to cover my mouth to try and get it!

    Nice pics Ben.

A very intense, pensive, incisive bunch who take their coffee tasting seriously juding by those expressions as the cup is methodically scrutinised.

Look forward to the cafe reviews and Dennis tasting notes.

I didnt want to be first.

    It was good.
I hadnt been to Cordial or Tobys Estate before so that was a plus.
The other time I went to Campos must have been a week day as it was quiet then.
Today was controlled chaos. The coffee was still just as good though.

My wife enjoyed talking to Trinity (Shannons little girl).
That, the baby cinos and the tea kept them both out of our way, I mean kept them both amused.

We bailed after Tobys and the dwindling numbers vetured on to Mecca.
Do we report them missing in action yet?
