Congratulations to Andy and the team for a successful expo. Most of these bean festivals Ive been to (missed this last one) are pretty dull but unravelling the "mysteries" of home roasting would have been a very interesting aspect for the crowds.

John So. Is Melbourne the only capital city to have a cardboard cutout Lord Mayor with a permanent painted grin who can only make a speech based on platitudes and slogans?

Brilliant day! -- the CS stand definitely the best there, especially if youre dying to try roasting your own! Heaps of friendly snobs -- finally inspired this lurker to get round to signing up Got some fresh-roasted beans to play with, green ones to torture with the other halfs heat gun -- now "all" I need is a decent grinder (Miss Silvias not real impressed with my faithful old Russell-Hobbs) and Ill be set...

Looks like youre really going to have to get that better grinder now that youre going to be roasting your own too! ;D Congrats, Simone. I hope we see you around!

PS: the winner of the iRoast2 today was the new user SDG!

I have sent em an email and await a reply, if we dont hear back in 24 hours then Ill redraw it.

Thanks to Les for giving us the iRoast2 to give away on the stand today.  If you were one of the 100s and 100s of pepole that really wanted to win it but missed out then you might consider buying one from Les anyway.

I spoke with some "industry types" tonight who came past the stand but couldnt fight through the 3-4 deep crowd to say hello.

Were we the only ones that pulled a crowd like that?

Didnt have time to write before, now everything I was gonna say has been said. :P Had a great day, ended up staying a lot longer than I planned to. It was certainly a great day, and Im sure weve converted lots of people to roasting.

Thank you Reubster for letting me play with the Corretto, although I should probably hate you - some more expenses coming up! It certainly is a lot easier to use than I imagined.

    Whoo Hoo!
    What a great day.

    Andy,

Really well done mate, I know from experience how expensive, painful and time consuming these expos are to set up and how much background work goes into them.....And How lucky was it to score that extra space....it was well utilised!

A highlight for me was seeing the geunine surprise and interest expressed in all things home roasting from the masses, the CS stand offered everyone a whole lot more than just selling "stuff" in paper cups and thats why the stand was so popular.

Lees skills on the woodenspoon/dog bowl/heatgun were very impressive [great looking roasts] and it certainly made the whole home roast concept look very easy and achievable to everyone.

Of course it goes without saying that it was great meeting and hanging out with all yous snobbers.

The only downside to all of this will be the number of starter packs that need to be prepared for the next bean bay!

I agree, the CS polo shirts are very funky fashion items.

The ones we have (only a dozen odd left) will appear in BeanBay Other Stuff section soon and Ill post a message when they are.

After lots of hunting to source "made in Australia" shirts (VERY hard to find these days) I eventually found a local lady that hand makes them which is why we had such a wide range of colours and styles. With the embroided logo they come-in at $40ea which isnt cheap but I think they are well worth it for a hand made item.

More details and some other ideas soon.

    Andy,
Further to the CS Polo shirts, how many of a particular size do you need to order to make it viable?

As per our discussion on Sunday, I need a few more Xs than your more healthy alternatives.

So when are the CS Polo shirts going to be available in the CS Store ?
And we will need CS Hoodies for the winter too I think.
And CS hats ? A whole CS range of merchandise.
(apologise if this has already been discussed... I just really liked the look of the polos I saw yesterday, esp the different colours etc.)

    Hi all,
had a great day, the weather was perfect. I arrived via the far side entrance to the event were one of the first stands I past was 4 rows deep with interested people, it was the "Coffee Snobs" stand. The amount of interest was amazing. Meet Andy and complimented him on the CS website. Caught a glimpse at the many techniques used for home roasting.

From there I went straight to the St. ali stand to see what all the fuss is about regarding there awesome coffee as I have not tried it before. To my surprise, there were no espresso machines but solely a unit called "clover" . I was spellbound by its operations and its results of what I would call a "coffee version of black tea". Taste wise, it seemed to be a weak plunger coffee (no sugar needed here). Fascinating....

Great day had by all !!!
