What about wearing a flag and waving your bikini.
That should get a few punters to the stall.

Re: Celebrate the Bean - Melbourne 2nd March

Just got an e-mail regarding the hardware being used in the Home Barista Comp.

            Gaggia MM grinder
            Gaggia Baby Twin machine.

PDFs of both products were attached to the e-mail. Ive attached the Baby Twin pdf.

The Baby Twin states it is a twin boiler machine with programmable doseage, Solenoid valve (3 way I assume), commercial standard PF and group and for some unknown reason... a metal pannarello (I wonder if they will get narky when we try to remove them?).

Worst of all... its a righty and Im used to steaming with a lefty now!
Ill have to cast my mind back to the Silvia days.

                    Yeah!

Gaggia Australia will allow all/any of these coffee snobs mods provided they can be done within the 15min prep zone.

                        What about installing a PID?

Anyone know how easy it is to remove the microfoam-destroyer milk frother?

Re: Celebrate the Bean - Melbourne 2nd March

Pretty sure ive almost decided to go over for the weekend but havent decided how
to get there yet so thought id ask if anyone from Adelaide is/considering going and wants to share a drive/fuel cost?? Probably cheaper to fly but then I have some other things i want to do while there and the car would be really handy for that.

Holding off on the decision to register for the comp till i make the transport decision, plus i was way more interested in it till i read that you cant supply your own coffee (wheres the fun in that, its a coffee comp after all).
One of the judging criteria is taste? But we have to use "cough"ex right so ..........

Sorry if there is anyone that likes it but well...I just dont :-X

I can see future comps will have a CS technical pit-crew to work on rebuilding the machine within the 15 minute time limit.

If you do fly over Intercoff let us know and we will try and arrange transport (somehow) from either Melbourne or Avalon. Ill be going past Avalon at about 5am if that suits.

They wont be needing that time limit...theyll have it down to such a fine art that theyll knock it over in under 1 minute! ;D However, it will still go down to the wire of the time limit as theyll spend the previous 14 minutes arguing over how to best position the PID controller for the most asthetic look...

                                That is likely Scoot.

I just had a look at the PDF that Brett posted
                                http://coffeesnobs.com.au/attachments/Baby_Twin.pdf

Did anyone see the pour on that?
If a CS pours a gusher like that during the comp well all disown em!

Was there any mention of a supplied coffee scoop? It will be tricky getting the coffee out of the grinder without one.
