The open heat will be massive on the Saturday. Just a note on the OPENS... entries will be closing at 5pm on Wednesday the 23rd of April.

Just to add to the excitement in Melbourne - we have confirmed two international WBC qualified judges - Emma Markland from NZ and Ross Bright from Singapore/Perth who will be judging both the opens on Saturday May 3rd and Sunday May 4th at the National Final...

Latte Art Championships will be Saturday afternoon and Cup Tasting Championship Sunday Afternoon (run by CS extraordinare Andy)...

Be in Melbourne on Sunday around 5pm to find out who the ABC champ will be for 2008.

I wish I could have gone to Melbourne to watch. Man, its going to be nail biting. Good luck to the competitors!

If the Vics are anything to go by my two days will start at about 5am and I will return home about 10pm (or later).... so I doubt Ill be posting results but I assume some of the CS army will get something up in this thread over the two days.

In the cuptasting there will be 9 people sniffing, slurping and spitting their way into the last remaining seat of the final.  The other two seats in the final are already spoken for by the WA (Catherine) and VIC (Toshi) champions so the added pressure should make it great spectator sport.  

It should be a blast having so many talented people trying their best to earn the 3 seats to Copenhagen to represent Australia at the WBC.

Best of luck to the Baristas, Artists and the Cuppers over the next two days.

National Finals

Saturday 3rd May
- Open Heats/Repecharge Heats - 8:30am
- Latte Art National Championship - 4:00 pm
- Presentations and Announcements - 6pm
- Social Dinner event - 7pm (Venue TBC)

Sunday 4th May
- ABC Final - Start 10am
- Cup Tasting Championship event and final - 3pm start
- Announcments and presentations - 5pm
- Drinks and After party (by invitation)- 7:30pm

For an event like this I would have thought that they could set up a live feed for people like us to check in on from time to time. Its not that hard to do is it?

Not really - but in its absence I had to cobble together whatever I could.

I know they had a live feed in the USA this week but have been having lots of probs with it.

Just in case anyone needs to know.

Today Con from 7 Grams won the Open Heats and will be competing tomorrow at the Nationals.

As for the latte art comp, Habib (he did quad rosettas) from NSW got top marks of 30pts, with Erin from Venez getting 2nd with 27pts and Con coming in 3rd with 25pts.

See you guys tomorrow at the finals!

Hell mate, what youre doing is terrific and I really appreciate it [smiley=thumbsup.gif]. I just thought it was a bit disappointing that AASCA hadnt tried to do something.

Yeah, I noticed the SCAA feed isnt working too well, maybe they should have employed one of those young ladies who have live feeds from their bedrooms, to sort it out for them :..... Not that Ive actually seen one of these :P

1.  David Makin - Victoria
2. Con Haralambopolous - Victoria
3. Jen Murray - Western Australia

These results were provided after a quick call to a friend over there. I am sure more official results will be posted soon.
Congats to all competitors and good luck to David in the World Barista Championships in Copehagen later this year.
