...I think we should start a "Syds shooting fund" and get him shootng all the worlds coffee events.
Andy - you should be my agent

Seriously - its great fun doing it for the coffee community - I was thinking that at the next comp for any competitor that wants a 100 or so images for their use they can kick in $25 for non-commercial and $50 for commercial use and Ill stick them on a CD for them. Feedback on this idea welcome.

Id second that - I thought he WAS the official photographer.

        Great shots indeed.

Id pony-up the $25 just so I can have some of the photos displayed under Sydneys name on my blog!

As your new agent Syd, it looks like we both just made a couple of sales.

I would think that all the competitors and most of their coffee companies / cafes would be interested in buying a CD at those rates.

Pressure in facial expressions, tamping, pours, sequence shots of sig-drinks and Wushoes beads of sweat are all unlike any other comp pics I have seen before.

In fact, most of the shots are better than the shots on photography stock image sites too. Works of art some of those (worthy of hanging in a cafe at least) and amazing that you got them in a room full of people, with ambient lighting and under competition conditions.

Did you get any of the cupping comp?

Re: AASCA - Australian Barista Championship Schedu

Andy, unfortunately I had to leave around 3-4pm on both days so no photos of the cupping comp. But I promise that Ill get all the events incl cupping and latte art at the next comp.

Its such a long day for all the event staff!

Id love to see the videos that were shot of the Vic and the ABC - the two camera guys for those events would have been absolutely stuffed too.

Theyre the shots I love to take - its a moment that is frozen in time that you wont see in the audience. The audience sees the big picture but the detail is what carries the emotion. Its just like shooting sports - to see the facial expression of the competitors - kids and adults - is really cool.

Thats hectic - and thats why youll never see me competing haha. I dont know how those guys do it! I feel the pressure from my mates who have high expectations... let alone people who actually know what theyre looking for, monitoring my every move.

as for coffee stains, check out every shot of my face during my run. If you look closely youll notice a thin line of crema that landed on my nose while i was tasting my calibration shots. I did my whole run without realising i had coffee right in the middle of my face, such an idiot!! Still dont know if any of the judges noticed or just didnt have the heart to say anything to me at the time

Ian - I actually thought youd cut your nose! I had cropped a shot of you where that was really obvious which I didnt include in the highlights! Glad you saw it and it was only crema ;D
