CSrs are also welcome to come along to "Bean Around 40 Years: The Roasting Experience", a free, public coffee roasting demonstration and information session hosted by The Coffee Company, as part of Roasters Week.

Sessions will be held daily at 10am from Tuesday 17 March to 21 March at 260 Carlisle St Balaclava and will take you through the process from green beans to the finished product. Bookings via coffeeinfo@coffeecompany.com.au or call 0419 113681.

We also hope to see you all at the Origin Roasters Cafe at Wicked Sunday, which will feature some of Melbournes smaller specialty roasters. The Coffee Company will be making coffee and selling beans there from 2pm to 4pm.

We look forward to meeting some CSrs during the coffee festivites.

Yes, their website will have the latest information.
(Thats the same link that the Wicked Sunday banner ads point to)

BeanBay pickup? No idea, I would guess after but we are always at the whim of bean brokers around the country as to when beans arrive here which is why we cannot publish future dates. We always try to have the BB sale in the middle of the month for an end of month pickup.
Mostly Im still packing beans the day the email notification gets sent... it is really that fine.

                    Rules & Judging Criteria

What do you need to do in the Home Barista Championship?

The following is just an overview of the requirements.

The competition will be based on the following:

                    1) Each Home Barista will have 15 minutes in total. This includes
preparation time to familiarise yourself with the espresso machine and
the grinder; make the coffees to the judges and time to clean up.

                    2) When asked to proceed, the timer will start and the home barista will have 15 minutes to prepare and serve to the 2 judges at the judging table: 2 espressos, 1 cappuccino and 1 latte. The order is at the discretion of the competitor.

                    3) There will be 3 competitors during each 15 minutes time slot

                    4) There will be 3 judges, with one reviewing your technical skills and 2 others judging the taste and presentation.

                    5) You will then need to clean up the equipment and the workspace for the next competitor.

                    What Will Be Provided

You can bring your own tamper if you want to. Coffee machines (Commercial Grade Expobar Minore) and grinders (Challlenge Grinder) will be provided by Expobar Australia.

                          I like to watch

Has the makings of a great few days, a cupping session at BBB Saturday 10 am Saturday to add to my caffine addiction problem (only problem is not enough)

Depending on the load of gear and how far we have to carry it I will have a laptop, camera and mobile broadband so pics could be added during the day or straight after. If there is a Wifi network in range we can pinch then live feed could be done I guess but I plan on being really busy
