Re: Wicked Sunday (Celebrate the Bean) 2009

i have just faxed in my application for the home barista comp... by the silence on this thread, i guess i am a shoe in for the first prize, if i am the only competitor....

one question i do have is are the drinks supposed to be made on a 30ml espresso (ie single) or 60ml? at home my standard latte/f.w is done on a double, so i am used to it that way...
also, the espresso, again 30 or 60ml? my default for the black drinkers is a long black, with the 30ml or so of hot water..... so what are the "officials" looking for?

Re: Wicked Sunday (Celebrate the Bean) 2009

I just added a map of the fed square area to the first post.
(click on it for a slightly bigger version)

The HBI Barista comp stage, Coffee Academy, Cafetto and CoffeeSnobs are all in a cluster at the east of the site.

Obscura and Di Bella are a cut lunch away at the Swanson St end.

...and there are plenty of other food, drink and coffee sites in between.

                        also....

Home Barista Institute are going to "silent auction" the Expobar supplied gear that is being used for the home barista comp.

                        3 x Minore 3s
                        3 x Challenger grinders

All are one day old, straight from the box so it might be a chance for some CSrs to snare a bargain!

for those who have entered the home barista comp, but still too shy to say, i have come across this:
                          http://homebarista.com.au/doc/Info_Judging_Process.pdf

answers the questions as to what we "should" be doing up there!

                                Andy,

Assuming my brain is awake what time do you need a hand to bump in on Sunday?

Packed so far dog bowl and spoon, 2 syphons and burner and Zass grinder. 2 large bags to carry 15kg of beans (and my $1 Minore 3 )out again.
