Whats with the passing nod to Chai latte in the latest edition of Beanscene? Umm..okk stuff or really hip hop happening, bring on the Chai mate kind? 8-)

It fits in the same category as having an article on tea in the mag, makes sense, unlike the end of your question?

Thanks for that clarification moto coffee. The last part of my question meant if the nod was a big tick on Chai or was a technical formality. I am not sure if the Australian Cafe couture has warmed up to Chai yet unlike many mature markets which have evolved.

Seeing as the first espresso machines were imported in the 1950s (IIRC) and there were cafes before that, how old does the market have to be before its considered mature? :-?

Keeping in mind that after maturity comes old age and decline.

There are still a lot of the population that dont know what chai is but the numbers are most certainly increasing, I have found that the article is fairly spot on with its analysis of chai drinkers and it reflects my experience with chai. It is a growing market that is for sure.

Thanks Moto Coffee. Yeah, while the evangelisation of Chai as a beverage option is surely on- ignorance is indeed a hurdle and a difficult one at that. It is encouraging to note that the numbers are growing steadily. What would you as an industry specialist think of promoting Chai as an alternate option? Any ideas ?

Sounds like you need to start a new thread and give a little more specifics as to your request.

It might be best to pose the question over at chaisnobs.com.au

                        Woo hoo...

The AUGUST edition is starting to arrive now.

Love the pin-up page 3 page 21 boy - Greenman who also made the CoffeeSnobs corner in a previous edition.

Congrats to Graham in the CoffeeSnobs corner, great write-up and although someone in editing cropped the picture a little tight we can still tell its a Hottop.
