    Re: R.I.P. Les Hawker

    Hi
Les Hawker was due to be at the Gold Coast show today.
Does anybody have any ideas how to celebrate his life at this public exhibtion.
maybe a coffee snob knows an organiser.
I have called Les from Sydney, Perth, Cairns, Emerald, Brisbane, Mackay, Townsville, Chaters towers, Airlie beach, Gold Coast and more. He always answers his phone with a preperation to help.
    have to show thanks
    cheers

      Re: R.I.P. Les Hawker

We at Diamond C Services would also like to add our condolences and sympathies to Less family and staff.

Having just experienced the loss of our own Mike Delzoppo - we understand and appreciate what they must be going through.

Mike and Les had worked as colleagues in the industry for a number of years - and the industry will be poorer for both their passing.

      Kind Regards,
      Michael Agrotis

            Laughing Les.

Trying to distance himself from the overly smoky demo roast (done by Will, not Les) at the Melbourne show last year.

We all joined-in and laughed after we knew the smoke alarms and sprinklers weren’t going to start causing a mass evacuation of the main pavilion.

It was hard to spend any amount of time with Les without seeing a big grin like this!

                Re: R.I.P. Les Hawker

Great show of respect for Les on Friday at his funeral.
                Well over 100 attendees.
Atleast 9 competeing coffee companies represented.
Could have been the Underbelly version of coffee but all got along great and we shared fond memories of the larrikin and love in Les.
Had to laugh and share with his family and friends when I noticed the coffee machine behind the counter in the parlour reception room.
A brand new 2 group Expobar. His wife agreed he may have done a contra deal.
Thanks to Peter Bowie (coffeebags) for making a great speech which we in coffee adopted on our behalf.
Thanks for making an effort to come back up Andy.
We may need to look at giving you a honorary Queensland citizenship your here that often.
                Cheers

                  Re: R.I.P. Les Hawker

Watching Les lift those coffee machines into the van and power walk around when he was doing things, I thought the man would out-live us all. Ive shared many laughts with Les and have learnt so much from him. What can I say... if he wasnt smoking, he was eating his maltesers etc. Take it easy, buddy.

I just wanted to post a quick note, to thank Coffeesnobs and everyone that has left messages about our Dad, Les on this forum.

Your memories of dad, and kind words have touched our whole family and bought us so much comfort to know how highly he was regarded in the industry and to hear your funny encounters with him.

Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.
                    Nicole & family.
                    xx
