They have a thing about "notability".

If they dont consider the subject notable enough it gets marked and if you dont object within 5 days its removed.

Lets say someone raised an entry for CoffeeSnobs when it first started and there was merely a handful of members.
Theyd have probably removed it if it was noticed and noted and no one objected within the 5 days.

Today though, with over 1500 members and being such an obviously popular forum, theyd have no argument.

By the way, the recent newspaper article would go a long way towards being notable as the Wiki people like independent publications backing you up.

Do make sure to check it once a week in case the mods decide to try and delete it (it happened to one of my entries and took weeks to get back up).

Why would anyone do such a thing?

I make a few entries and dont seem to have too much trouble there - but yes, you do have to watch what some people get up to!

I have opened a Wikipedia entry on the Corretto - my own work there is limited and it could use expanding and additional links. Currently I have linked it to the home coffee roasting entry and cross linked from that as well!
