Re: SCAA Atlanta 2009 - On the ground.

WBC is co-owned by both SCAA (USA) and SCAE (Europe) and bounces between Europe and USA. SCAA sometimes sells their rights for a year to host WBC hence countries like Japan get to host.

Cupping, Latte Art and Coffee in Good Spirits are all owned by SCAE and always in Europe. This year these competitions will be held in Cologne, Germany later this year.

Re: SCAA Atlanta 2009 - On the ground.

          Hi all,

Just a quick note to say that Im at the WBC now; the first rounds have just started. Tim has had his practice session, pulling some really stellar shots - phenomenally sweet. Tim is on in a few hours - I will try to sneak out of my workshop for it.

Enjoying some nice coffee from the WBC bar - a nicaraguan coffee from the marco uber boiler/chemex combo ... tastes a bit papery, though.

I have some photos from new york and coffeelab to upload - will do so once I find an internet cafe and/or hook up with andy to blag his laptop ;P

          Cheers,

Luca (writing from the SCAA email checking booth!)

Some one needs to let us know how it all went...

The feed into Australia and else where was first Rate rubbish... Even the txt chat was laggy and no sound or video... Sorry Ustream.tv but be it you or Australias feed ... It was a poor showing.

            Not happy jan.

Re: SCAA Atlanta 2009 - On the ground.

All I can find that qualifies as live information is the official 2009 WBC blog.
              http://worldbaristachampionship.org/2009/
              http://twitter.com/WBC2009

The only mention of Australia I can see is this:
              # Australia finished just in time - with a small spill. Onstage now - Japan.about 3 hours ago from web

Re: SCAA Atlanta 2009 - On the ground.

                From the WBC Blog

"Team Australia is in the house! Tim Adams has set up a mini tropical rainforest on his table, and he welcomes his judges with a soundtrack of animal and jungle sounds. He explains his coffee, a Sumatra, a Papau New Guinea and Australian Mountaintop. He tells them they will taste brown sugar and deep cedar. Tim has really brought the outback to Atlanta this weekend. For his signature drink, he combines raspberry, hibiscus vinegar and Australian red gum honey. As he presents the drinks with a dusting, he tells the judges he has really brought the outback all the way here—”It’s going to get dusty,” he warns them!"
