Ah, easy for you to say, with your Demeral Tamper, Mr 2008 Winner!

If I get there, and the numbers are down for competitors, Ill jump on a machine but I wont put my name down officially in the hopes that theres a flood of other, more capable, people that put their hands up (please, God, please!)

But, let it all be on your head, Dan, if I have to actually do it - Ill make you one of the taste testers, thatll fix ya (and probably destroy poor Hazels palate for good!)

Ill stand off to the side and watch the home-experts this year and cheer them on, with a view to possibly throwing my hat into the ring next year when I feel a bit more confident with it all.Ive never had anyone see what I do and tell me whether its right or wrong, so Id hate for my first public outing to be in front of a huge swag of people...particularly if Im doing it all wrong  

Trust me, I had to call for the mop after my go cos I was shaking so much pouring my latte. And yeah Im glad Hazel was judging it, shes pretty much the coolest I know of. Its all fun and games, seriously.

Uhm Di, Pete will probably hold you personally responsible for the amount of traffic on the day. Just a suggestion - get him to drop you off on the north side of the bridge and hop on the train to the quay - a lot less angst!

Id have a go, but my visual score will kill any chance I have - Pete often likens my latte art to two blob monsters fighting it out over another blob...not good, suffice to say!

It is looking as though Im going to make it - Petes talking about going down to pick up something he might win on EvilBay, so I might hitch a lift down, get him to drop me off and Ill hang out until he picks me up again - Im trying to suggest to him he take the kidlets to the Sydney Aquarium to buy myself some more time...

So heres keeping my fingers crossed that he wins his auction!

Home Barista Shoot Out at Aroma

OK, heres some more info for the Shoot-out ...

We can confirm that the very lovely Hazel De Los Reyes, previously both an Aussie Barista Champ and Cupping Champ, will be judging the shoot-out.

Rules:
Participants have 5 minutes to prepare 1 Espresso and 1 Latté with an unknown machine, grinder and bean.

Espresso, served in white 80ml demitasse cup:
- Crema - 10
- Taste - 10

Latte, served in a Latte Glass 270ml
- Visual - 10
- Taste - 10


Best Overall Score= /40 wins.

If theres only enough entrants for one round, participants will be given 7 minutes to complete the above.

Enrollment closes on Wednesday 5:00 pm!!

Pfft, as if you waste any milk these days Dan ;D You gotta use every last drop for all those sensational double rosettas youre pouring these days. (... oh yes I did! :P)


Anyway, on the actual subject of the Aroma Shoot-out; its looking like it will be a little later in the day; probably around a 3:30 start. I need to touch base with Ofra, but I am guessing well have two rounds again, so that should we have room for EIGHT competitors; so nominate yourselves below and I guess the first eight nominations will get a shot (hehe) at taking out the title of Sydneys Best Home Barista. (Professionals need not apply :P).

More info will come to hand soon.
