Re: Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE) 2012

The CoffeeSnobs booth (Stand #93) is now setup and ready to roll.

Ill be banging out roasts on the Behmor for a bit of interest and will have something dripping away in the cold drip over the whole show.

For those that want to take something home, the cold drip coffee makers and the roasters are available to purchase during the show too.

I was hoping to land a prototype BraZen for everyone to play with but due to international freight lag I dont think it will arrive in time so Ill show it "electronic" on the telly instead.

Should be a fun 3 days.  Swing by and say gday (or better still deliver me an interesting espresso that you scrounged from the stands)
    ;D

    See you there!
    8-)

Great to meet you Andy... My pleasure to have bought, er, I mean brought you a couple of coffees.
Its been a fantastic day. I have finished my judging shifts but competitions are still running. The live streaming seems to be working, cameraman doing a great job. I checked out some on my iphone.
Ill be back tomorrow but heading home to Tassie later in the day.

Theres a lot to see here! I was talking to a head electrician, he told me theyve just about maxed out the capacity of the building for electricity - thats a lot of coffee machines!

I wholeheartedly agree, I know now why I love the coffee culture so much, chatted with CSers I met at Beanology in Melbourne last year, consumed innumerable amazing coffees, watched the competition, special mention to Jono from new sponsors Dimattina who scored 8/8 in the cupping heats and made it to the finals--Jono has been running cuppings every Wed at Dimas in Perth which is attended by a regular crew of devoted CSers
Cant wait to head out the showgrounds for another great day of comps and caffeinated nirvana

Concur. Just completed my first roast on my new toy while having a beer in my shed.

Just wanted to share my thoughts on the expo. Went Sunday from 2-5, caught a bit of the latte art finals - ah so cool, Im so used to seeing that stuff on YouTube only thought Id never get to experience that. I was pleasantly surprised by how many stall were making proper shortys, not skimping on the quality of beans or concentration eg axil and proud Mary - very impressed. Did anyone try the panama pepe something or rather?, my goodness what a memorable shot. Only thing I would have like to have seen is some kind of stall that allows people to make a coffee on a commercial machine that would have been pretty exciting.

Re: Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE) 2012

                            I was hugely impressed.

I think the MICE crew took the Aussie Coffee trade show to a whole new level- far beyond the previous offers regardless of whether they were directed at trade or public.

The scope and quality of displays was very impressive and there was an atmosphere of goodwill and cooperation throughout.

There was something for everybody and I am sure that those who boarded a plane to get here received value for their money.

I am not sure that interested members of the public would have known if they were not forum members though? Did anyone notice media or print advertising?

Well done MICE and to everyone who competed and/or contributed.

That worked for me, I left with a bag of Axils seasonal blend after sampling some. I also liked The Final Step Tanzanian Blackburn Estate they were sampling.
Anyway, it was a great day out, I would definitely return in 2013. The only thing is, it would have been nice to have a sign out the front as to where it was, the showgrounds is a really, really big place to walk around looking for the entry.

There was a small add next to the odd spot on the front page of the Age all week. Also seems like they have stumbled across a great to format for holding Barsta competitions, I just wish I could hear what the Baristas were saying.
