Re: Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE) 2012

Having credit with Qantas for last years lock out we decided to go south to MICE. What a great decision. The place was buzzing. A Coffeesnobbers heaven. 98 floor stands around a stage area that was full on with Tasting, Latte Art, Brewer and Barista events for 3 days culminating in the finals on Sunday. Exhibitors from Aussie and other parts of the World showcased the latest and greatest in coffee and equipment. What a buzz to taste superbly made coffees and to mix with the "whos who" of the coffee world from all over Australia. To sit and watch the contestants has to be experienced. SO TALENTED. [smiley=thumbsup.gif] We just wanted to reach out and taste the signture drinks made in such exciting and different ways presenting the judges with textures, flavours and aromas. The skills of the Latte Artists were incredible. Andy was hard at it everyday demonstrating his Behmor Roaster along with meeting and greeting C.Ss. Andy was ably assisted by Paula and kids. Fantastic photos kids. Great artistic talents. You took wonderful images of things we adults just passed on by. ;D If you are thinking of coming in 2013 you have many accomodation options. We chose to stay 8k away at Aspen Big 4 Holiday Park in a cabin. Easy drive to showgrounds. Comfortable, quiet and affordable for us. Event parking was $10 a day and had to be in the showgrounds itself. Enter through Gate 7 off Langs Rd. Our only criticism is mirrored in other C.Ss comments. The acoustics of the building are such that one does not hear the competitors story lines clearly. The 2 big video screens were winners. Coffee Snobs should have been indentified by a coffee spot on their foreheads. [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif]Andy told us there were many C.Ss there. Sadly they remained unknown to us even though we wore our C.S shirts on Sunday. However these shirts opened doors of conversations bewtween us and the Exhibitors. FANTASTIC MEMORIES.
