Yeah, I really like the U shaped layout, its expensive on space but will work far better than rows of seats.

The Snob Van road trip starts today...

Really looking forward to getting the room setup and ready for Sunday. Should be a blast.

The stands in Cafe Biz were bumping in today.

Mark from Coffee Roasters Australia was setting-up his stand and unpacking roasters and Greg Pullman was putting the polish on his display too.

How much stuff can stuff into a Snob Van?

All of this is the answer, from the Tables at the left to the bag grinder on the right all this was in the van. 500kg odd at a guess.

The trip home will be much lighter!

                Exciting news.
We have what might be the youngest machine in the world at Beanology. Its certainly the youngest in the southern hemisphere.

Greg from Boema has given us a Boema single group and Gino Rossi grinder to use for the two days.

                THREE CHEERS FOR BOEMA

                This machine was built yesterday!

Fresh off the production line and its pulling some great shots.

                  Here is the brew area.

The brand new Boema pour over brewers will be making the coffee for my session using the World Cup Tasting ratio of 60g per litre coffee.

Im really looking forward to everyone having a play/taste of some profile differences.

                    Last pic for now...
This is how the room looked when I left at 8pm.
(it looks like the CoffeeSnob U.N.)

Woo hoo, its ready to go!!!

I hope everyone that got tickets to Beanology have a great couple of days and Im looking forward to seeing how the Cafe Biz floor came together... looked like a lot of trade stands getting ready and the comp area was looking slick too.

                    Just one sleep to go!
                    ;D

Double Ditto to that! What an informative and inspiring day!
You could have warned us about the weight of the "show bag" though Andy.
Almost took me over the train boarding limits with my 5 kg Beanbay pick up and a Hario Cold Drip from Di Bartoli.
Trekking up and down those platform stairs at Redfern Station took some effort, but the contents and the body got back to Maitland safely.  :P
Thanks again for a great Beanology.

Hear, hear. Lots of good info provided. Phils talk, which I thought would be least relevant to me as a home barista, turned out to be one of the most informative.

The Boema worked really well. Good to see that there this Australian marque is still surviving in a GFC world and made quiet a pleasant brew assisted by the Gino Rossi.

The Boema pourovers produced a good smooth brew, enough to discern differences between the various profiles Andy had used. I would suggest one of these and a few airpots you can see in the photo of the pourovers would be the answer to the question about how to cater for large groups without the inconvenience and expense of an espresso machine. Probably good for an office environment as well.

Great effort with the setup. I couldnt stay to the end, but picked up a lot of info.

Also managed to see a lot of sample roasters which may be my next step from my Behmor. I didnt realise there were other variables such as drop in temp, airflow etc.

Your experiment was pretty interesting too Andy. Ive never tried side by testing with different temperature profiles (mainly to the hassles and time it takes to carry out such experiment).

Thanks Andy for the CoffeeSnobs Beanology, although I was there for three hours but it was a very informative three hrs, especially your session .. one bean with four roasting profiles . I am going to get more busier with my HotTop, hope the power bill wont go up too much and neighbour might look over the fence to check why I bake bread late at night often than before. Cant wait for next year Beanology 2013.

                                Hi All,
Loved Beanology. It was my first coffee conference and I thought it was fantastic. It was especially good to see coffee from different perspectives across the industry. As a home brewer I dont often have the chance to hear the stories of industry people or even the behind the scenes perspectives of cafe owners. Although none of the presentations were specifically about any one occupation in the industry, I thought it was really interesting that they all touched in some small way on the wide range of people that make coffee what it is. I definitely feel like I have an even greater appreciation for coffee! It was also nice to meet other coffee snobers and play with some different equipment.
By the end my wife was even excited about different types of bean processing and espresso machines. I knew shed find it interesting but I was impressed that she got converted!
