Beanology 2013 - CafeBiz 2013 - Sydney - 10th and 11th March.
Hi Barry &/or Andy,
Do we need to register as well if we have already bought tickets thru coffee snobs?
Thanks (& I am very excited to be going and seeing y'all)
Peter
Re: Beanology 2013 - CafeBiz 2013 - Sydney - 10th and 11th March.
Had a top day, it was super busy but great fun.
The new format seemed to work well, nearly entirely hands on so everyone shared knowledge in their groups instead of just getting talked at by me all day.
Seemed everyone left with a new idea or some thoughts they didn't have previously which is the reason we do these events.
Congrats to Dean who won the new Pullman tamper, good score for someone who couldn't make today then managed to shuffle commitments to get here. Thanks to Greg for his support of CS and Cafebiz.
Craig from Otto came and drew the winner of the new Otto Espresso machine... Gary has just got himself an awesome new toy, looking forward to seeing his review.
All in all an excellent bean filled day out. It was fun catching up with so many CSrs at once and I look forward to the next one.
While there were people from all over the place, there was a broad variety of coffee skills there from beginners in coffee brewing and roasting, long term amateurs like me as well as café owners and commercial roasters.
We split into small groups and did several roasts with different origins in Behmor roasters and we tasted the results from each group.
As well as gaining much coffee information from Andy, we had time to discuss coffee with others. About the only thing that we all had in common was our love of coffee.
We had the chance to look at the Café Biz which was a trade fair largely looking towards the commercial side of coffee.
This was held in what is now called the Australian Technology Park which is in the huge buildings that once housed the Eveleigh railway workshops where the NSW steam locomotives were built and maintained.
You can still see some of the huge cranes used to lift locomotives and massive lathes for making them.
