You must have been quick off the mark with the Fazenda Recreio! Just received some of that myself

Spoke to Kev Chilvers at cafe culture this arvo. He said about 35 entries in each home roaster class (70 total) and full feedback would be asap but will take up to 4 weeks

Well I just received an email from the Golden Bean people offering the option to purchase stickers (and other things) related to our glorious victories.
Whilst I am keen to buy some stickers to brag about my bronze medals, the minimum order is 1000. Obviously this is geared towards people with slightly higher turnover than me!

So, do any of the other bronze medallists want to go 10ths, 8ths, quarters with me in a purchase?

It's $182 + $10 postage for 1000. I'm happy to do the order and mail out the smaller packages to others.

Lets face it, I've probably already talked myself into buying some. It's really just a question of whether I can drag anyone along with me on this particular quest.

              Brett.

                Richard Davies.
Congrats on your 8 bags full. That is some achievement! Great coffees you have there. Am envious of your collection. Thanks for posting.

Congrats to Lemoo too. Well done mate. I have sampled your coffee in the past and had a feeling you would do well in the comp. Looking forward to next year.
You got some great beans there too.

My peers think I,m crazy keeping 30 kg of beans, but they are gobsmacked when i tell them there are some who are not happy with less than 80-100 kg.

To everyone else that placed, congratulations.
To those who entered and didn't place, good on you for giving it a good go. You never know until you give it a whirl and competition is all about raising ourselves up to the challenge with camaraderie. It's all about the fun of taking part and learning something along the way.

My guess is with each year more roasters will get on board and it will be tougher to win, when you take the low price of entrance and more roasters lifting their game as decent coffee becomes a way of life to more people.

                Here's my silver placed GB11.

Modified KKTO (heat shield removed and fan blades angled) 700 gm each of the Indian Elephant Hills AA and the Brazilian Yellow Bourbon Reserve.

Koffee Kosmo was kind to offer me some useful tips in the past.
Pre-heated KKTO 180 deg. Beans in and full heat setting throughout the roast with burping from first crack to end of roast. Beans out at 18 minutes at cusp of second crack.
Was a longish roast to bring out chocolates and toffee caramels.

Covered coretto 700 gm each of Guatamalan Huehuetenango and Ethiopian Ghimbi.

Pre heated coretto. Plenty of heat, heatgun on medium fan speed, then tapering off at 155 deg, then ramp up til first crack. Lower temperature on heat gun and full fan speed til end of roast in 3 minutes. Times of 14.5 and 15 minutes respectively to actually retain some balancing acidity and spiciness to cut through to milk. Strange maybe but that's how I like it.

No previous experience with the Guatamalan and the Brazilian Reserve so my tweaking was taking out samples during the first roasts as they progressed Between first and cusp of second crack and cupping them til I found what I liked.

Post blended ratios 30% each of the Brazilian and Indian. 20% each of the Ethiopian and the Guat.

Good point! I will ask Kevin at Golden Bean if we can get a home roaster friendly deal, e.g. 100 stickers for $20

Congratulations to you too. That's a fiendishly complex roast process. Fascinating to know what folks here are doing to get their results

Regarding your comment about green coffee inventory, that's certainly a bone of contention in the Davies household

I think anyone with less than you is really not serious about their coffee, and anyone with more than you is either hopelessly indecisive or has OCD

Congrats to the Freeman scions and to the others who did well. After years of hit-and-miss (mostly miss) popper roasts, I love the roasts I've been getting on the Behmor so far, and am very grateful to Andy for getting it to market at such a good price.

It's not OCD, it's CDO, the letters should be in alphabetical order.
