Im the first one back from the Bisssie roast-a-thon. Wow! Meg is a superb chef and made what can only be described as an awesome spread. Bellisimo...

Roasters on display were a Gene Cafe (impressive), Iroast, The original Corretto, An automated HG/SS bowl with windscreen wiper motor stirring, and a Crazy Popper with extra air assistance. A couple of fan assisted bean coolers were also on display.

The cool thing about the windscreen wiper /SS bowl roaster was the quick and simple bean ejection into a sieve for fast effective cooling.

The first cab off the rank was some Red Sea blend that I bought to try out in the Gene Cafe. The roast was pretty even for a mix of beans of very different sizes. It was pulled when it got into 2nd crack, but to our surprise, first crack wasnt audible at all.

Ken also bought his new BZ02. Its a great machine. The vibe pump was so quiet that I had trouble hearing it at all.

And for desert, out came Megs legendary coffee cake. I also supplied some rather intense mocha truffles.

All in all, I think most had a great time. We certainly did.

Thanks Meg for all your time and effort in arranging the event.

    Cheers,

    Mark.

The fan is essential for blowing away the chaff and for cooling the heatgun and BM during roasting :-)

I shall bring my old daggy one.

    Excellent points Belinda!

Im giggling at how many things I havent thought of! Never fear there will be electricity, food and drink on saturday. I figure things can only get better from there!

Fan-wise.... um is the fan particularly special? I have two cheap pedestal fans if that will help? Im not too keen to pull them apart as they are the only ones we have right now!

let me know if there is anything else people need! Theres a good chance I wont have thought of it!

Yep I can bring my vacuum cleaner with attached bucket and sieve aka bean cooler ;D

It can only cool about 400 grams of roasted beans though.

Do I need to bring the fan too ?

Looking forward to this, and a big thankyou to Meg for hosting and roasting

So 11.30 is the definite start time?

And should we all bring our bean cooling setups?

Or just have one or two there?

    That sounds great Ken.

Maybe we should just bring a pile of beans along to roasting day that we wouldnt mind swapping and see how it goes ...... ??

    Thanks Andy and Belinda,
Too late its been soiled.I cant believe the difference Ive noticed already.
I still favour milk based drinks but since using big Bezzie Ive noticed a sweeter taste and have cut back to 1 small teaspoon of sugar. Now to try some more SO beans and experiment.

    Fun,fun,fun,
    Ken

    Hi Belinda and Meg,
Im keen to swap some beans too.Ive just been slack not responding.
Since I dont have a huge (by some snobs holdings) stock of beans Ill bring the lot
and see what deals can be done on the day.
Ill post a list of what I have here before the big day.

    Cheers,
    Ken.

Id swap Belinda but you dont want anything Ive got!

maybe you could repost that post here and start again? I know Bruce was interested in swapping with someone but I think hes been a bit busy lately.

Ive got some Tanzanian and Honduras from the bean bay before last that Id be willing to swap and I have heaps of decaf if anyone would like to try it.

I also have some Brazil Rios Minos from my starter pack that I cant seem to do good things with. Id be willing to give that away to see if someone else can do something better.

Id swap for anything I dont have already but if someone has some PNG peaberry - well Id be your best friend for a bit!!
