Thanks Luca, I hadnt read that post till now.
WOW... two events, one on each side of the city (nuts and politics I suspect)
Should be great to check it out.
( 11am Sunday March 25th at The Beachclub, Waterfront
City Precinct, Melbourne. )
Thanks for linking to the maps too... none of that area is in anyones street directories, twas all wasteland a only a few years ago.
Yeah- amazing isnt it...Melbourne Food and Wine seem to have a wonderful ability to turn good things to "merde" (as the French might say...). They lost the Bean Alliance sponsorship and Coffex has taken it on....
I seriously doubt that this event will have anything whatsoever to do with good coffee...Bring on the superauto home machine and underdosed 10 sec extraction swill...Good to see Five Senses there and Im sure that the Bean Alliance will try hard with their brands- which represent 25% of the exhibitors....

Re: Celebrate the Bean - 25th March 2007 - Melbour
Hi all,
I just wanted to point out that the Victorian Barista Championships will not be held at Celebrate the Bean this year. Instead, it is on on the same day (!) at docklands. I have posted about it here: http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1174041682/0#0
It appears that Celebrate the Bean is on again this year. After getting bumped off the list last year for the Commonwealth Games and nearly getting buried by the swimming championships this year it has some how mostly gone unnoticed.
Renaming it to "wicked sunday" and calling it "wicked beans" nearly made it obsure enough that no one would know what it was about!
Anyway, Ill prob drag the family down there for the day and Im sure we will run into some CSrs and sponsors!
See below for the marketing blurb...

Oh, I doubt the rubber chicken will be coming this year.
