Thanks, by the way, for a great forum - I may only be a junior with 4 (now 5) posts, but I was a long-time lurker before that, and my progression so far, from Gaggia Classic through Rancilio Silvia and on to Lelit Diana, has been totally guided by Coffee Snobs advice.

Can anyone tell me how a Coffee Snob upgrades from 'junior member' to 'member'? Can't find it among the FAQs. Many thanks ...

Yeah, as above its all based on post count.

Junior = < 30
Member = 30-100
Senior = > 100

These are the default ones in built in the forum. Way back when... we had more creative ones but they fell off in one of the upgrades over the years.

If people want to post some suggestions in here of "title" and "post count" we'll consider making them the new defaults for the site.

From 'member' to 'senior member' it is only 100 posts...... the easiest promotion you'll ever get!! ;-)

I have always loved the vibe of the site. Learning and sharing and seeing those who at some point had no idea what they were doing then later sharing their found knowledge with someone who is just starting their journey of discovery. That's always really nice to see and all us long-timer members get a warm-fuzzy feeling, like proud parents.

I'm sure we are all improving the average coffee everywhere. One day we will all be able to go somewhere and get a better cuppa.

Of the 30,000 Snobbers how many would you say have been active in the last year? Is 30,000 the active membership ? If so that's mighty impressive indeed.

Impressive it is!
Most are still active, a few blow in and out as needed and there are 1000's of others that are a little shy and lurk in the shadows for a while before creating an account.

At any time day or night it's fairly common to see 1200-1500 people on the site (you can see that on the bottom of the front page). There was a time in our early history that 100 people on the site at once would make the webserver groan.
