Wow!  A roasting and Presso demo - what more could a Newbie ask for?!!? (afterall, theres only so much one can learn waching it on You-Tube  )

Definitely count me in!

Grant, is it OK if among Perth Pressites we organise a Presso to be present?  Id be keen to have you brew my same roast/grind as I do my best on the Presso, to compare with all other variables eliminated, how the machine makes or breaks the cup.

The Presso is an interesting device. Feel free to bring it along, just dont spray the curtains with coffee juice from the pressings...

aaah, what a great way to down ones own coffee at 2pm on a Saturday afternoon, logging on to Coffeesnobs and finding that in 7 days... hang on, its Friday! OK, in 8 days, I may repeat the process, with company, and probably of higher standards and morals too

So far Ive tried to keep things simple (cheap) and repeatable. Im getting through 10kg of green Eth. Yirg. Regarding brewing, Im looking to find if it is like a racing analagy of F1 (80% car, 20% driver), or MotoGP (20% bike, 80% rider).

Or is it all about soul as Billy Java Joel sang?

I might be able to come to this, sounds great as this is my weekend off. Have to check with the family to make sure nothing else has been pre-booked. If not then count me in.

Ill have to roast a few different varieties from my Starter Pack.

Cafe Day Saturday April 14th 2pm

I was pleased with the response I got to my earlier thread so Ive decided to post an invite for a Perth Cafe Day.  

This isnt a CS Official event just an opportunity for interested forum members to get together.

The venue is 20 Ashton Rise, Woodvale and I can be contacted on 0433102277 or emailed at wattgn@bigpond.net.au.

The brief is simple just bring yourself and some freshly roasted beans.  If you arent a roaster please dont be put off as there will be plenty of coffee on hand.

I will have some tasting sheets and notes for coffee tasting so we can all learn a bit more about coffee.

One person suggested a demo of the Hottop roaster which I think is a good idea.  Once everyone is there I will start a roast which takes about 20 minutes.

I have a commercial single group Bezzera so it is a superb machine and I am happy to go through making espresso for those of you who would like some guidance.

Bringing a snack would be appreciated although again, it is optional so dont feel obliged.

It should be a relaxed day and a lot of fun.  I decided on 2pm so that people can do their saturday morning shopping as many places close by midday.
