Re: CoffeeSnobs FairCrack -- Tally so far.

Thats a great start. Id love to know where it will go. Im sure there are plenty of areas where it wouldnt go astray.

Off the top of my head, theres the purported hurricane devastation to the coffee plantations around central america like the Dominican Republic.

Then theres the Rwandan "widow" growers, who Id love to see helped out...

    But the list goes on...

This is a great initiative Andy.

      Hi all
What a fantastic Idea this is, i didnt buy any during the April Bean Bay as i had only just received my starter pack but will put the effort in for May or June at the latest.

As for where the collection goes, you need to either have someone in the know give some known assessment of issues out there or run multiple polls to narrow down a particular area or project.
Me i dont care as long as something good comes of it all, lets face it you wont be able to please everyone with the decisions made so dont try.

Last year the company i work for started the idea of donating 20K per year to a charity, 3 were chosing and all staff were given the opportunity to vote. I setup a polling system / survey system to collect the votes and thoughts of staff. Our nominated charity ended up being Mission Australia.
Our company does 38m turnover per year and have embraced the concept of social responsibility which is great to see, and i am blown away by the fact that CS is basically doing the same thing.

Well done to the CS team. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

For a suitable location for a donation there are many but admin costs are nearly always a factor, the Red Cross has Health Care facilities in many coffee growing locations and health care is vital.
Money can be a difficult thing to donate, in third world areas it can be better utilised by donating a pulping machine or a well or the lumber required for a school facility. The SCAA runs a charity that makes donations in these forms on the ground at coffee growing regions, you could follow up that way, I am also about to head to the USA for the SCAA conference in Long Beach, I will find out what I can as it may be of use to you.
        All the best

non US keyboard I think. Some of his posts appear ok (although not in the right area of the forum). He certainly is keen.

Just to get us back on-topic... we broke the $1500 mark in the FairCrack tally this month.

                  Cool.

Should be announcing the first project soon. Waiting on confirmation and cannot "spill the beans" just yet.

Hi Andy i think this fund is great, it would be good if the fund could be used to help coffee growers in East Timor or PNG

In the spirit of fair crack 20 cents from every cup of coffee we sell here goes to a mate of mine running hospitals and

schools in Tibet and India,  http://www.njp.org.au/about_us.htm

Maybe it would not hurt for all those in the commercial world to give a little back!!

Its nice to back slap Andy, but we in the commercial world are in no different a situation than he is and can "give back"

                              a little also.

                              Craig.
