BeanBay - New Shipping Options

Thanks to Geekrocket the long awaited BeanBay upgrade happened today.

The biggest change is Fastway Couriers is now available Australia wide. We have used Fastway locally for years but didn't have an easy way to open it up everywhere as courier pricing is typically way over complicated. BeanBay will now calculate the actual pricing for Fastway Parcels (up to 22.5kg) and Fastway Satchels (3kg & 5kg) and show it as an option at the checkout if they are available in your area. For most of the country it will be better priced than Australia Post and it has good online tracking too. Fastway will carry up to 22.5kg so the heavy orders should be very reasonable per kilo.

Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide are typically overnight, as you get further out from those centres you will wait longer and you can decide if the price savings off-set the extra lag over Express Post

Fastway only deliver to addresses (not PO Boxes) and it should be an address that's attended for a signature (to avoid it being "carded").

You won't see a lot of other differences from your side but there is a lot more functionality behind the scenes which will help with our accounting and should help us keep it all running nicely.

If you see any quirks let me know and we will try and squash the bugs!

We have always charged under actual freight cost and the new Fastway Couriers option is no different. If we can get savings from the freight company we always pass it on.

The amount you will save will vary on location and weight, some areas are amazing value, others are similar to AustPost eParcel (which is already pretty reasonable).

For those that work in a city and live in the 'burbs you might find a cost and speed difference shipping to work too. You can check in BeanBay by loading up your basket, changing your shipping address (under user details) and then having another look at the freight quote.

A good example is Abbotsford, QLD, 4760, which is about 20km west of Bundaberg, QLD, 4760. You can get 5kg into Bundaberg for a tiny $11.75 but Abbotsford is $61.50 as it's not on their "normal" run.

So I suggest people a few different delivery addresses to find the value option.

Fastway has a very good overnight service to Adelaide. They also have good guys delivering here, for instance they will take the time to walk around your house and leave wine out of sight and out of the sun if you're not home.

Would be good if we can also add an authority to leave on all deliveries.

You can now add a authority to leave (ATL) in BeanBay.

Under "My Shipping Details", click "edit" and you can select one of three different ATL's.

I seem to not see Fastway as a shipping option in BeanBay. I am in Epping (Sydney) and have previously been using fastway. Am I doing something wrong or is this no longer an options. Cheers.

I just logged in as you Adam and it's certainly there as an option. Not sure why you didn't see it, maybe Fastway was off-line for a bit on Sunday when you tried?

Try again and let me know (via the contact us!) if you still have grief.

Seems there is a Fastway problem again as we are not getting their pricing returned so BeanBay won't show it as a shipping option.

I'm looking into it
(don't know if its us or them at the moment)
