Spot on Javaphile. I was going to suggest if Warren tries this or something else which suits him, he could enable tracking protection just on 'private pages' (it is one of the 3 options), then just use private pages when having problems. Unfortunately the testing chosen to be done so far hasn't actually been any testing on the issue at hand.

Note that enabling Firefox's Tracking Protection may cause some sites/pages to not load properly as they run detectors for adblockers and will not let you see their content if they detect you running one. In those cases you'll have to whitelist that page/site with the Tracking Protection or turn it off while looking at that page/site.

WarrenK, Greenman is right. Firefox Focus is the best choice as it is very sparse and brutal on ads, but Greenman's suggestion works almost as well if you have chosen to use Firefox instead. Go to Settings ( three dots top right corner ) - Privacy - Tracking Protection and enable it for all. Try it next time you favourite browser has a problem

The latest Firefox has a tracking blocker function which I have activated, pages load a lot quicker as the ads are blocked from loading onto the pages.

338 and Andy. Have tried Firefox and no different. Sometimes there is unacceptable delay, other times no problems on any of the browsers. Stops at exactly the same spot, just before the ads load. I accept now it is just standard variable Telstra adsl in the country.
Thanks.

Warren, 100% agree with Andy. We all see different ads based on browsing history and other factors, so no one can exactly replicate your problem. You might be being served ads for bedpans of the ming dynasty, which would be relatively obscure, or maybe ads which are in high demand like something to do with the soccer World Cup. Either could have a local cache problem or be ads served from outside au due to low local demand.
The idea of trying Firefox Focus is it is a known variable with regards to ads. If that works you could try an ad blocker for Chrome, but as they have varying degrees of success Focus would eliminate variables and if it worked then replicate with your preferred browser. It would probably take as long to install Focus as write the posts complaining - though about the same to remove again after the test. I am writing this now on an old Samsung Tab S using Firefox and pages load in 1 to 2 seconds. When I use Firefox Focus it is even quicker but I prefer the extra functionality of regular Firefox. Understand you don't want to try another browser so hope your chosen solution works. Good luck.

I doubt it's widespread and nothing has changed in the last couple of weeks so I do think the problem is most likely at your end if it was working good 5 days ago and then not now.
The server is hosted on IINET infrastructure so testing random other sites or saying "all other sites are okay" isn't really a good test. You can only really test to the site that you are having trouble with to get an idea of performance. If the problem was widespread with Telstra the site and this thread would have blown-up with "yeah me too" posts.
From your description it sounds like it's only the ads that are slow to load, they are delivered by google and there is every chance that their source will be overseas (tpc.googlesyndication.com) so it might be a Telstra cache issue? I've seen "clever" ISP caching really slow things down sometimes.
I just tested the site on an Android phone, using chrome via WiFi (which is a dodgy slow ADSL1) and Telstra 3G and both loaded instantly.
I think all the above puts you squarely back at 338's suggestion of trying a different browser to isolate that at least.

Problem has only started within last two weeks or so. Telstra Home Dashboard says everything is fine at my end, and all other sites and apps are working normally. Not willing to install Firefox.
When loading CS always stops at same stage, after page is loaded but area for advertisement in top section is blank . Must be the only person having this problem.

Did you try the original advice, which was to try Firefox Focus? Or have you tried anything else? Your post a few days back says you are possibility using Chrome which is the antithesis of focus, it encourages advertising and spends time reporting your browsing habits to google.
Ps 17mb isn't superfast, in fact it is under the minimum guarantee for the NBN once co existence finishes (25mb). The lucky consumers on 1,000mb have superfast internet, 100mb is pretty ok. That said 17mb is way more than adequate for forum browsing.

I am finding the problem has started again. At about 80% on progress bar, and waiting on the advertising to display.

Got the same slow load problem back again. Telstra is reporting 17 mbps which should be super fast . Was also happening last night.

Working well again with instant loading. Telstra speed test is 17 mbps which is the same as earlier today when I was having trouble. Browser I use is the Samsung installed one which has worked well .Originally posted by 338 View PostWarren you don't mention if you read via browser (which one) or tapatalk? If a browser why not try a different one, say Firefox Focus (which is quite spare and blocks ads) to eliminate the browser as a problem? After downloading the browser restart the machine and test.

best a guess...
the laggy ones will have more subscribers than this thread which is likely to only be those that posted in it at most.
I'm not sure that I can easily see the numbers of subscribers to a thread. I'll have a scrounge sometime.
