Hi all SE Qld coffeesnobs. World Latte Art champion and Australian Barista Champion, Scott Callaghan, will be holding barista classes at Pioneer Coffee, Yandina, in early February.

1) Home Barista Course  7th Feb 2008 (9-12) or (1-3)
Two hours or three hours with Scott learning everything you need to know about getting the most from your home equipment, you are encouraged to bring your own equipment in, but there will be 1 or 2 machines spare if you cannot. The class is the ultimate indulgence for the budding home barista and includes Scotts training manual and 500gm of coffee. Bookings essential by end of 2008.

2) Pro Barista Course  8th Feb 2008 (9-4) inc Barista Manual
Three hours of theory followed by three hours of practical workshop. This is an intensive course designed for the proffesional barista. It covers the journey from seed to cup, touching on some of the fundamentals of coffee and its characteristics, such as single origins and roasting, while spending most of the first 3 hours on espresso extraction and the importance this plays in regards to flavour.

During this course a lot of tasting takes place to reinforce theory.
We break for lunch and then the afternoon is spent putting this theory into practice.
