Re: R.I.P. - William Bennett
Ive had the priveledge of knowing Bill for 15 odd years and he was an amazing help back then ;
Truly one of the pioneers of specialty coffee and tea in this country.
A massive loss to the industry on both fronts.
His legacy lives on.
Condolences to Scotty and the surviving members of his family as well as the team at HAB.

R.I.P. - William Bennett
from: Scott Bennett - H.A.Bennett and Sons (one of CSrs green bean brokers)
It is with great sadness that I write this communication to inform you all, that Mr William (Bill) D Bennett (“Billy” my father) passed away Late Saturday afternoon.
He fought his sickness to the end with his usual clear minded purpose and determination as he lived his life on a daily basis.
Over dad’s adult life he bounced back numerous times through adversity in business and his personal life.
Upon entering this, his hardest challenge before him, he tackled it head on, drawing on all of his past experiences, alas to no avail.
Dad’s philosophy of life, work and humanity touched many people over the years and his legacy will live on well into the future.
May he rest in peace!
Regards,
Scott Bennett
tis very sad news.
I only met Bill Bennett a few times, he was a jovial character with the air of great knowledge and wisdom that is only gained from the life experience of 60 years in the tea and coffee industry. The first time I met him was in the HA Bennett and Sons lab, he was busy roasting in the bench-top sample roaster. We spoke about the passion of the CoffeeSnob home roasters and that the CS’rs were roasting in popcorn machines and heat gun setups, he asked with a voice of both curiosity and disbelief "can you really roast drinkable coffee in a dog bowl?"
Sincere condolences go to Scott and the Bennett family and also to all the staff and customers of HAB who will all be saddened by the passing of a true patriarch of the Australian tea and coffee industry.
Andy.
