Re: Sydney - 2008 Aroma Festival - Sunday 6th July

I started early and was outa there by 11am. Im not big on crowds but I guess they are good news for those with stalls. The weather was perfect so it was bound to get busy. As usual the highlights for me were the Di Bartoli and the ECA stands in the hall where the machines were dazzling and the coffee excellent. I had mainly gone along to drool over some bling. I only had one coffee from an outside stall and was pretty disappointed with the offering.

I found the bling in the form of a new offering from VBM. I originally couldnt place the machine as it was a Domobar Super but had a PID temp display in the panel (sexy blue readout). I guess it was twin boiler. It really looked the goods with the stainless steel finish and neat readout. It delivered the goods as well (turns out Jack Hanna was driving it). Pitty I didnt take a picture. Pitty my bench is too small for one.

Woh, sorry Dennis. Happy Birthday. There was so much going on. Heaps of CSers, sponsors, a few ex- world latte art champions and SO much beautiful equipment.

I dont want to talk about the shoot-out :-[. I think my equipment was faulty :P. But well done Yeeza. And big thanks to Renzo and Ofra. (BTW- yours was definitely the best stand there IMO.)

Ok ok, my equipment wasnt faulty ;D. Id better get some practice on some prosumer type gear before trying that again.

Heres a pic of one of my pours. :-? OK OK :-/ - its a Scottie Callaghan pour.

Sue and I arrived at about 11.30 and missed the shoot off, but I heard that Yeeza had the goods this year. Congratulations Yeeza!

Downstairs, there were throngs of people queuing up for coffees, chocolates, and teas.

Upstairs, in the OS Terminal, it was a hive of activity as people seemed very interested in the various machine demos and samplings on offer. The terminal was packed with CS Sponsors and members, the latter very generously giving their time to help out and answer questions.

It looked like CoffeeSnobs had taken over the entire OS Terminal. Not surprising then, to find thats where the best coffee was served too!

How was it? Pant, pant, pant... wait till I catch my breath.

It was HUGE! Out on the streets, there were squillions of people, queuing up to pay their one dollars for something ordinary at best.

last year we parked on Harrinton st (under the key west building) it was a $20 flat rate for the day and is about 1 blocks walk from the action.

Is parking even a possibility? I have to drive as well be on the way to the airport. :-/
Coming from the Northern Beaches, maybe youd be better off parking on your side of the bridge near a train station, eg. Milsons Point, then take the train across the coat hanger to the Quay, then a quick double back and youre on your way again!
