Re: My Rosetta Trees
Yeah,. its back out to the garage for me. Im not going to use the popper again, (I think its just cruel to roast quality greens in it) so I will definitely need to get my new roaster finished very soon.
Hmmm...my current roasted bean stash has 33 dbls left in it (how sad is that, that I know this?? :-/ ) and itll last me 16.5 days if I keep the doors closed and curtains drawn to repel blowins (though on the otherhand,..maybe I should be encouraging blowins to plough through the roasts faster [smiley=evil.gif] ). Well,..assuming that I neither repel or encourage and leave things as they are with the average of 3 blowins per week,.. that brings it down to 13.5 days, which means I really need the new roaster finished and 1st roast done by next Saturday, so by the time my current stash runs out, my 1st roast from new roaster will be 6 days PR. Mmmm mmm!
Nuthin wrong with moi. Im not obsessed or anything. Im NOT! ::runs to CM and caresses lovingly its just you and me babe::

Re: My Rosetta Trees
Gotta get that alternative roaster of yours fired up soon Remy, then youll have the means to control your roast profiles a lot more discriminatingly with the added ease of repeatability thrown in.... thats when you start to fine tune your roasts to get exactly what youre aiming for in the cup....Originally posted by Remy link=1205463897/0#5 date=1205544663sadly disappointing after tasting Dennis roasts for the last 4 days. A double disappointment. *snif*

Re: My Rosetta Trees
Not wanting my son to drink a double
, I just poured two singles, both rosettas failed miserably and not worth taking pics. The first one was basically a big fat blog of foam in the middle, and the second one was a pathetic foam smudge because I ran out of room in the cup. I think my foam was too thick,..oh well,...very disappointing. Will try again next brew.
PNG Peabury in the cup this time btw,..also once enjoyed, but sadly disappointing after tasting Dennis roasts for the last 4 days. A double disappointment. *snif*

Re: My Rosetta Trees
Thanks Dennis, I must have watched it about 10+ times... and had to stop and think what I was doing that was so different and the penny finally dropped. I was basically doing them upside down. I was trying to do the tip of the rosetta first and as I brought it down towards me, I was trying to get a little wider at the base then shooop through the middle back up to the tip. Well daaaar...I also see that the middle line is really made from a thin run of milk rather than foam, just so that it kinda drops through the foam design and therefore dragging a little foam with it and downward so that it ties the two sides together to make the leaf like appearance. Cool... ::runs to heat up the CM: My son wants me to try it now, but Ive already had my coffee this morning and he has kindly offered to drink it ;D .
Be back in a bit with results.

Re: My Rosetta Trees
I watched the video Dennis, I feel totally inadequate after watching it. It certainly gives me something to strive for, practice, practice and more practice.......................................... .......

Re: My Rosetta Trees
Hi Remy
Nice set of banksia men.
Check out this vid by scottie callaghan on youtube to feel as inadequate as I do. Also note the milk consistency, the way he prepares the canvas, his grip on the jug, obvious concentration yet fluid movement, tilt of cup, etc.

Watch it a thousand times - its magic.

Re: My Rosetta Trees
Remy,
Try just moving the jug side to side next time. IE: Dont try to do the stem of the rosetta.
Hopefully it will help you observe the dynamics of how the pattern forms. The leaves kind of take care of themselves to a degree.
I have found that my best results have been when the vertical movement has been minimal.
Keep dancing. Its great fun!
Brett.
