Re: Blend made in heaven... Well, close anyway

So... it looks like I as well as others are now on the hunt for some Peru Kontiki Chamana and yemen ismaili... I guess the million dollar question is: Does anyone have some for sale?

The Peru Grace Estate from the poll just gone could be used instead of the Chamana, then try some Yirgacheffe, Harar or Sidamo for the East African component or perhaps one of the other Yemeni beans like the Bani Matar, Sanaani or Hirazi depending on what can be obtained. A proportion of a good Mandheling or Toroja would add some additional body, mild spice and earthiness if you like a fuller mouth-feel to your brew.

Got to experiment a bit with post-roast blending to find something that you like and if nothing takes your fancy, then you have a selection of excellent Single Origin beans to brew. Cant lose really ,

      Mal.

Thanks mal I have some ethiopian yergacheffe, sumatra mandeling, png organic and kenya aa. I tend to favour the africans a bit... I have some Indian monsoon peaberry and some zambian aa on the way. Would any of these substitute for Peru Kontiki Chamana and yemen ismaili.

          Ok Ray,

Give this a go..... Roast separately and blend post roast after degassing for 4-5 days.

          PNG Organic... 40%
          Mandheling... 30%
          Kenya AA... 20%
          Monsoon Peaberry... 10%

This should give you a blend that has plenty of fruitiness, nice buttery & earthy body, a crisp finish, some dark Jamaican chocolate undertones in the after-taste and a dark, rich and silky crema. As a side note, all these beans are just fine to drink as Single Origins too you know so there isnt really any need to blend them to enjoy a great brew. Anyway mate, have fun and let us know the outcome,

          Cheers,
          Mal.
