    WOW!!!

    what a list ,

Im currently drinking the harrar as a single blend (very smooth) and intend to try all the others as a single blend but use some of each blended to give to friends and visitors .Iseem to have more friends popping in for a coffee since I got my machine MMMMMMMMMMMM wonder why.

Oh!! guess what I found in the shed a BREADMAKER so it looks like Ill have to buy a heatgun and give roasting a go

so much to learn so little time.

    Well, my 2.2c worth...

All 5 will be darn good as single origins.

    tanzanian arumeru
    ethiopian harrar
    zambian lupili
    indian tiger mountain
    brazil peabody

If you want to blend, do it by YOUR TASTE but a starting point will be...

2 x indian tiger mountain (smooth n buttery body, mostly mid palette)
2 x brazil peabody (will fill-out the sides and add some sweetness)
1 x any one of those africans for highlight n punch.

    so that gives you:

    indian tiger mountain
    brazil peabody
    zambian lupili

    indian tiger mountain
    brazil peabody
    ethiopian harrar

    indian tiger mountain
    brazil peabody
    tanzanian arumeru

    Another worth a try is:

    indian tiger mountain
    ethiopian harrar
    tanzanian arumeru

The zambian lupili and tanzanian arumeru would not work as well together (my taste) but will work well with the tiger, peaberry or a central American bean.

I expect all 4 of those blend suggestions will be far better than your local cafe serves too.

Perhaps I can redeem us by getting back on topic.

Time is precious, so standing around a hot barbecue for what can be hours roasting tiny batches to blend later has lost its novelty value for me.

So I mix and match, pre-blend and roast. About 15 minutes for 400 grams x 2 batches. Half an hour all up. There will be perhaps 4 different SOs in batch 1, and a different lot of SOs in batch 2.

Or, different proportions in the second batch.

But I try to to blend like with like -- No giants and peaberries together. No hard beans mixed with monsoon malabars.

It all works well. Roasts are extraordinarily even.

You guys are going to get in so much trouble for being OT.

So what do you think would go with these peaberries? Gaz, in addition to my previous post, its either coffee lore or coffee etiquette to blend beans that are from the same region/continent.

As your starter pack doesnt have any other beans from Sth America, maybe you could try another brown like the columbian. Alternatively you could mix peabody with sherman and end up with fractured fables.

Coffeegaz, maybe if you do a search under peaberryinstead of peabody you may have better luck?

If Im not mistaken, Peabody is a person, whereas peaberry is a pea shaped bean found in coffee berries  :P ;D

Oh, and if it were me, I wouldnt bother blending - they all sound like they would be great on their own.
