In desperation to avoid running out of roasted coffee beans
I doubled my available stash to 500 grams by mixing aprox 50% / 50% of
PNG Wahgi AA and Nicaraguan High grown bold

Now every time someone visits our home that had this blend B/4 asks for it again even after I serve them up another single origin or blend

I ask why is it that you like this blend and they say it feels that we have 70% (cocoa) dark chocolate flavour in our mouths for 20 minutes after we finish the coffee
I didnt have any PNG Wahgi so I substituted PNG Bunum Peaberry to go the with Nicaraguan HG Bold, took the roast 20 seconds past 2nd crack.
The results have been pleasing nice chocolatey rich mouth feel and a lingering chocolate aftertaste that hangs around for ages.

After popping out of the country on business last week, Ive just returned to this blend, 17 days post roast (I have a couple of bags left that will take me nicely up to ~21- 23 days).

This blend seems to respond really well when up-dosed (major mouth-feel), and the pour seems to run forever (admittedly, I do run a triple basket  )

30 minutes after drinking it (as a ristretto), my mouth still feels / tastes like it was only moments ago...

        Glad I roasted extra

Good to read your comments Alchemist
And I am glad you are enjoying the blend as I have grown to love it
          It gets a bit addictive

I have to slow down on the Triple LM basket shots though

I will have to keep an eye out on green bean bay for those 2 beans
It may be a while as mal said above "it depends on the crop availability"

Re: A blend that friends keep asking for more

Well I had the pleasure of receiving a bag of this blend as roasted by -A-. Great looking roast and super even colours.

            This morning I tried 2 x ristretto, 2 x piccolo & 2 x flat white.

At this point in time I would have to say that the blend works best in a milk based drink. I was getting a nice smokey complex nutty, cocoa taste through milk. This would keep a lot of people coming back I am sure.

As for the ristretto, I am not sure at this stage...

It wasnt too harmonious for me, there seemed to be a battle going on. I will pull a few more later on in the day and see what eventuates.

All in all though, a good blend to serve up to a number of people as I am sure there wouldnt be any complaints.

Nice find KK & great roasting -A-

Re: A blend that friends keep asking for more

redzone, that is very normal for my morning efforts. I can sometimes be upto 20 coffees a day when I am trialling different blends, shot speed etc... I am lucky in the fact that coffee does not really stimulate me and I have no side effects if I dont have any either. Except for the obvious wanting of a delicious thick coffee...

Tried another few shots this arvo and I will stick by saying that this blend works best through milk.

Re: A blend that friends keep asking for more

I would say 99.9% of coffees I make for friends and guests are milk based

Your taste tests are encouraging in that this blend is palatable and you would have it again

I have also tried it as a piccolo with a dash of milk and it’s nice
The milk just adds the finishing touch

Ive been using the Nic HG 50% and Ethiopian Harar longberry and have had lots of comments from family and friends. I has a very choc/fruity taste with good mouthfeel and a lingering aftertaste, good as espresso, americano and milk drinks
Greenman, As you can see Im not the experienced roaster that many here are and have only been experimenting for a little less than a month (in a crazy popper), but quite interesting that my favourite combo so far is quite similar to yours. I found a 50% Nicaragua Matagalpa SHG, 25% Ethiopa Harrar, 25% Kenya AA is absolutely amazing! chocolate, hazelnuts, berries... you can still taste it half an hour later. Friends absolutely love this one.

Nicaragua roasted to start of SC. Both Ethiopa and Kenya to slightly before SC. Kinda cold here at the moment so roasting time for each was about 16-17 minutes. Beans to ambient temp in about 60 secs.

Just thought Id share that with you anyway.

                          Yea Greenman
Its that Nicaraguan HG bold that is the beautiful culprit with the chocolate aftertaste and cuts through milk like a knife through butter

Used as the majority bean for many blends could prove to be a great find
This bean could be the start of a chocolate revolution

Keep us informed with other blends Greenman
