  • Blend with what i have

    Hey All,

First time posting here...better now than never!
Ive recently joined the coretto club and picked up my starter pack. Ive had some pretty good success with the beans i got plus i stole some off my brother who tried his hand at roasting some time ago.

I have used about half of everything ive tried and to be completely honest the majority of them have tasted fairly good as a SO all about a week out from roasting.

Anyway my question is this, i have these beans left and was wondering what people might suggest as a blend. I prefer espresso or long black but dont mind the occassional milk coffee. I have about 250g of the following beans:

    Ethopian Gambella
    Columbian volcan Galeras Supremo
    Per Ceja De Selva
    Brazil Pulped Natural
    Mexico Yeni Navan
I also have a samatran but not sure on its quality as i bought it else where, varying bean size and colours etc.

Thoughts anyone? My thanks in advance.

With that stash, I dont think you could go far wrong with KJMs house blend - (check out the 4 pages of well deserved praise!). I am currently sipping a flat white made with Peru, Mexican, Ethiopian gambella and Sumatran and at 7 days post roast its sensational (the only modification is swapping the central American - Guatemala -> mexican). To my somewhat barbaric palate I think the Mexican might add a little more chocolateyness.

The other blend I used to make regularly (before I discovered KJMs) is brazil 40% columbian 40% Sumatra 20%.

There you go, that should cover it nicely, let us know how it works out

I will also go with the advice of bigmunchez! I also use brazil 40% columbian 40% Sumatra 20% and I like the flavor and taste. I am a big fan of it.
