    Thought I'd share this experimental blend to see if anyone else has tried a similar mix and enjoyed the results!

    Roasted 350g of Guatemala with 100g of Ghimbi in the Behmor on 1 P2 B+. 1st crack was pretty early at 16.55 then roasted to 20mins. I found the cracking very sporadic with no rolling crack and then stopped just short of 2nd crack. Looks to be CS8 to me.

    I found this one carries well as an SO and with milk although I had to increase the brew temp from 92 to 94 to smooth it out slightly.

    I havent been roasting very long but OMG the smell of Guatemala Jacaltenango is so amazing. makes me want more. still waiting for the 5 days before i can really try it.

      I agree. This is the coffee that we used at MICE last week for the coffee filter plunger and the Brazen brewer. From memory we went through more than 10kg in 4 days and I drank way too much of the demo coffees... found myself holding a perpetual non-emptying cup all day.


      Just to get back on topic... I've not tried blending (I like it as a single origin too much) it but I can see that big heavy body bean like the Ghimbi could work well with it as an espresso.

        By chance, I'm presently drinking two roasts. The Guat Jac as a SO in the Aeropress (about CS8), and Brazil Yellow / Guat Jac / Ghimbi (50/25/25) and it works a treat as an espresso or flat white.

          Cheers Andy, good idea, I need something for the Aeropress when I go away in a few weeks so that could be the one!

          Sounds good Barry might have to try that one. I haven't bought any Brazilian beans yet so may have to substitute with Peru Ceja de Selva which is one of my faves!

            Hah........fluked the last bag of Guat beans yesterday from BB [thanks Andy, exceptional service as always].............Can't wait to roast a batch. Love the Guat Huey. Seems like these are like the Yemens'........to good to adulterate.

              We ran it through the GS/3 at the shed today. Godshot, godshot, godshot...repeat until none left!

                I tried a blend of Guatemala Jacaltenango with the Columbian Volcan Galeras, which worked quite well, but decided that the Gaut is best SO (actually the best SO by far), and now it's ran out, it stays in my stash

                  I was going to purchase these in my next order... can't believe they're gone! Was looking for something with green apple acidity to try.

                    Sorry kwantfm. I didn't know I got the last of this until the I saw the only quantity available was 2.5kg. Looks like I had better savor them. I have been hanging out for more of the Huey but am unsure when the next crop will be available......if at all. :-(

                      Really enjoyed this bean, and was disappointed to see that it has sold out.....then I checked my past invoices and it appears that I purchased an additional 2.5kg of it after sampling some from the first bag. I'm rarely smart enough to do that.
