Re: Suggestions for Da Bland Blend
Probably one of the Brazils as a base 60%,Kenya AA 25%, PNG Sigri 15%. Should make an interesting blend. Ive done a couple using Columbians as a base and was pleased with the results.
Thatl get the ball rolling anyhow!!

Suggestions for Da Bland Blend
Id been putting off asking this question for a while because Id been enjoying very nice SOs at the moment.
What do I mean the bland blend (play of words here)?
Ok, while there are quite a few beans in my stash that stand out as SO so much so that I am loathed to blend them with anything else, I also have other beans that dont quite stand out on its own, especially in milk. Bland is probably a harsh way to describe them; I only used that word as a pun. Basically, I was asking about suggestions for a blend that uses only beans that does NOT stand out on its own, but when blended together, create magic.
Beans I have that I consider standouts:
Yemen Bani Ismail (havent tried it but at $22 a kg, Im guessing theyd be)
Indian Monsooned Malabar
Ethiopian Harar
Rwandan Cyangugu
Indian Mysore Nuggets
Sumatran Mandehling Blue Batak
Kenya AA (some may disagree on this one)
Beans that are nice but dont stand out for me as an SO:
Timor Leste Arabica (apart from my last roast which was pretty good)
Rwanda Bourbon AA
Ethiopian Limu
PNG Sigri Estate (Mals fav...)
Brazil Monte Carmelo
Brazil daterra vintage Reserve 2005
Indian BB Robusta (so its a robusta...whaddaya expect?)
The verdicts still out on:
Guatemalan Huehuetenango SHB (dunno where to place this one, pretty unique but I dont know what to make of it)
So, do you think I can make magic from List 2 & 3?
