Re: Cant find a good espresso anywhere
Ill test you the next time you are behind the jump... I can pick the correct volume of a doppio blind-folded (well, you know what I mean!) Its my "standard drink" yard-stick for all espresso coffees.

Simon James is the only person ever at First Pour to hand me a double espresso when I ordered one... I have to nudge Luca and yes, I can remember short doubles from you and the other David bloke too.

Im pretty sure its a Melbourne hang-over from a time when good bodied shots were hard to find. Now there is plenty of fresh coffee (in the right places) the need for super-tight is far less important.

The blend was intnetionaly designed to produce the body of a 9ml shot in a 25ml shot (although I drink it as a double espresso shot 50ml). Espresso Wow is available in BeanBay via the "Buy Brown" button above.
However... if you want the same from a Melbourne cafe thats another matter.
Pick your venue carefuly, Venezianos blend called "Estate" is really good but you will have to tell the Barista to pull a full shot
(even great cafes like Veneziano sometimes fall into the trap of pulling short shots when you order an espresso)
HAH! ;D Ive only been training since last October not to pull short shots! :P

Black forest cake?
BRILLIANT call AndyL I hadnt nailed it but that is exactly where it lands on the flavour scale. Sweet, dark chocolate, berries and a creamy body.

Actually I found a coffee like that. Drop me an email, would love feed back on it.
Andy got to get some wow again. Was great last time we had it through the machine. Reminded me of black forest cake on the first trial. Would love to see where it is now.

Cant find a good espresso anywhere
Hi all
Great site and very informative.
I have been in search of a coffee that resembles the last coffee i had in Italy. A espresso that is full bodied and NOT ACIDIC, NOT TOO EARTHY and most importantly NOT BITTER. I dont mean the ones that are 9ml but more like 15-20ml does not require sugar and easy to drink. In Italy i was putting them away like tequila shots and here they are just not the same.
Any recommendations on brands/blends that will help me acheive this?
