Finding coffee reference books in Australia

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
My first post, so bear with me.

Ive been trying to source some reference books, namely William Ukers "All about Coffee" and "Coffees Produced Throughout the World" by Philippe Jobin. Is there anywhere in Australia that I may be able to track these down, or are Amazon and the net the only option?

Any help from members would be appreciated.

    cheers,
    Malcolm

    Hi Malcolm,

You could try the link below. I have bought some hard to get cookery books from them before.

An original edition of Ukers book is not going to be cheap. I think there is an SCAA reprint that retails for ~US100 plus shipping.

An original copy of Ukers book can be purchased from Amazon (second hand) for upwards of US$500. As mentioned, a copy by the SCAA is available for US90 plus postage. I bought a copy from Sweet Marias...It is a good copy of the original (which I have seen). While it is said to be the bible, some of the details are distinctly out of date..

Im not sure where you can get the Jobin book, but an excellent reference book is Coffee Floats, Tea Sinks (or is it the other way round) This book is currently available from Helian Books for A$88 plus postage...

    Cheers.....

P.S. This forum contains a link to a scanned version of Ukers original.... :)

Im not sure, Nunu....I have only seen the scanned pdf on the net....it is possible that someone has put this on a cdrom and is selling it.

Or, maybe the images used for the SCAA reprint have been published on disk....I havent seen this though. My comment on the SCAA reprint is that, because it appears to be a scan rather than an actual reprint, some of the images are slightly indistinct.

But the quality of the binding and the colour plates are fantastic, and make this an essential book if you have a coffee library, particularly if you dont want to pay those crazy prices for an original, moth eaten one....

    Cheers....

The Coffee for Connoisseurs site had a link for the Jobin CD-ROM, but it is just the SCAA site, and I couldnt find the CD offered there, only the book.
