    What to roast for Aeropress

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Ive gone and bought an Aeropress for my trip to Canada to visit the rellies. I know I need to roast some beans a bit lighter than I use for my usual ristrettos, and Id like some recommendations as to what beans have worked well for other Snobs.

My rellies think they like good coffee, but usually put the drip filter on automatic start for the morning. This means the beans have been sitting ground for a minimum of overnight, and the coffee has been sitting hot for half-an-hour or more.

I want to really shock their taste buds with some excellent coffee. ::)

I havent found a bean yet that doesnt work with the AeroPress. The only change I would recommend as far as roast profile goes, would be to roast a little lighter than for your typical espresso brew; not much though, probably one stage on the CS Member card.... :)

It is amazing at the various roast levels that can produce good coffee. Best cup I ever tasted was a Colombian Supremo roasted to just the end of first crack in about10 minutes. Went straight from the Probats cooling tray, to the grinder, to the Bunn brewer. Tasted like it had sugar added to the cup.

Whatever coffee you end up using beware of young beans with the Aeropress. If the beans havent rested long enough and you grind and fill for 4 cups youll have a volcano on your hands. :o

Until youre sure your beans have rested long enough its best to only brew for 2 cups.
