    Esmeralda

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
I got some of this bean from Brother Baba Budan yesterday. It was roasted on the 23/3 and put it through my syphon, the dose was 18gms in 240mls with a medium grind.
The flavour was fantastic I got a floral, citrusy flavours while it was quite hot and then once it cooled a bit grapes and cinnamon, it taste like someone had infused cinnamon in the coffee.
What impresses me about syphon is the different flavours you get as the coffee cools.
Im going to try it through my manual dripper tonight to see if I can tell any difference between them.

Finished my bag a few days ago, definately peaked about 4-6 days and became slightly more tame in the citrus toward the end but still a great brew. Only tried one brew past paper drip but wasnt impressed so I am blaming the paper.

I might see if they have some more in a week or two 8-)

I have just had some esmeralda through the dripper, *I must say beanflying I partly agree with you its not as good as the syphon. The different flavours seem to be less noticeable .But *I think its still pretty good. *The papers I have are american, they are called natural brew. I got them from a shop around the corner from BBB.

    Hey Marty,

Which shop did you pick them up from?

The Esmeralda has a huge array of flavours/aromas when cupped, but seems to lose them when filtered through anything.

An awesome bean and Id definitely pay the premium for it again.

Ive found (cheers Luca) that the only way to fully appreciate Esmeralda is to drink it cupping style. 4minute steep, then paper filtered. All other methods seem to fall short. I mean you get the awesomeness it has to offer, but not in its entirety. Es greatest attribute is that its so multi-dimensional. Best coffee Ive had this year.... best brew was on the 2nd of Jan.... oh yeah I remember it.

    Re: Esmeralda

Had it through the Clover at Liar Liar a couple of weeks ago or was that BBB :-/, all I remember was savouring every drop. If it was on the day I had drunk seven coffees by 10.30am then you will understand my lack of note taking. Better go find that travel diary..........
