    Coffee - Melbourne CBD

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Hey All - Im heading to Melbourne (from Perth) for a long weekend in about a month and Ive been trying to chart out and prioritise my coffee stops, taking in as much coffee as my body can handle in 1 full day dedicated to coffee.

The criteria is that it has to be in the CBD as I will be on foot.

So far, Ive searched the forums and come up with the following list

    Liar Liar
    Brother Baba Budan
    Pushka
    Switchboard
    Cafenatics
    Dancing Goat Cafe
    Stassi
    Bambini Barista

Can anyone make a quick comment for/against any of the above - really want to get in the best and leave the rest :)

Apparently 7 Grams is fantastic, is it worth hiring a car for a coffee? The other 2 days I have will be out and about around Geelong if anyone can recommend a must do cafe there?

    St. Ali
    Seven Seeds
    & Maling Room

should all be on your list as well - then the coffeesnobs sponsers Di Bella and Veneziano.

    Just hire a car ;)

Theres train and tram close to 7 grams.
7 Seeds is just outside the city, but very accessible

Liar Liar and Mailling room are not near the city.

I have never seen Stassi open on weekends.
It wouldnt be worth their effort in being open when the local office workers are not around.
If you can get there on the weekday then you will get a good coffee.

    Switchboard.. fantastic place to behold.
Mailing room, 7 grams, Liar Liar, Veneziano all out of CBD but accessable by tram or a planned car trip.
Di Bella and Seven Seeds not far apart.
Melbourne has a fantastic tram network- all tram routes available on the internet. An all day ticket gets you everywhere.
Remember check opening times of cafes if you are in on the weekend as some do not open then.
    Happy times.

If youre going to Dibella you have to check out Auction Rooms - Errol st North Melbourne, take the 50 or 57 tram from the Vic Market, not far from Seven Seeds.
The tram runs along Elizabeth st so you could also grab it from BBBs (closed sun).

The 112 tram will take you to St Ali, get on at Collins st, couple Cafenatics along there, youd probably want to check out the Mistral in the Church Lane store, between King and Queen st, just off Collins st.

Dancing Goat is just off Kings st about a 10 min walk from there, in Little Lonsdale st - or a 15 min walk from Auction Rooms.

The Mistral lives at 447 Collins St (Suncorp Building ex AXA). 30 seconds across the street is Church Lane just off Collins st which has a 4 group FB80 and another 30 seconds down Church Lane is AMP building which is home to a FB70 paddle group.

Of all the places mentioned.....I would so skip all of the places just to have a coffee @ 7S....seriously out of control coffee.
