    Holding greens for others...

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hey all,

What do you reckon the statute of limitations should be when holding green beans for others, a la pickup point?

Sittin on some beans here from near 3 months ago, the owner originally told me they forgot they ordered beans and has not opened the PM reply that I sent ;D

So, how long before we bust em out at a get together? ;D

What was that rule of thumb..

    The threes

    1:Greens = 3 years
    2: Brown = 3 weeks
    3: Ground = 3 min
    4: On Hold = 3 Months

I recon that says it all..

So what type... And how much ;D

Hmmm, potentially dodgy one, eh. I k now that theres no way Id be stayin away if Id paid for some top notch beans. I reckon to cover your posterior, post clear notice, and personally via PM advise all players as to precarious status of their beans. Then put em up for sale in a free for all (if there is sufficient quantities) with proceeds going to fair crack.

*Note to Andy- Maybe worth advising in BeanBay that pick up option will have an expiry date.....jester thought, I know things like this can get a little touchy at times..

I like the three month option 8-)

I would contact andy. He would have the email addy for the user and could give him a prod (or a deadline)

Perhaps there are fair trading regulations to cover this situation.

I think youve shown remarkable restraint, Chris. A weaker person might have roasted them up by now :)

Maybee the tax needs to be incremental; 50% after 3 months - 100% the following month! The spoils could be divided by the house and fair crack (with a small auction at the get-together.)

I wonder if its a storage issue.
A lot of CSers seem to suffer from it.

Better to leave it with cksyd than to find somewhere at home to put it or hide it from the better half?

In that case an "extortion" surcharge should be added to any storage fees: pay up or Ill dob [smiley=evil.gif]

Hmmmm....come to think of it my cupboard is getting more and more difficult to fit any more coffee in.

;DHow much room you got up there Cksyd? ;D

I know they would have fallen into my roaster at the 3 month mark if I was holding them. 3 strikes = youre out.

Hey, but what about the beans that ones daughter was supposed to pickup, but forgot, then left the country for a time leaving mother totally ignorant until a PM came from CKSYD. What a shock - Im thinking them beans are safe n sound, not at risk of being consumed at the three month mark. But do agree, if youre good enough Chris (and the lovely Natalie), to help others save money on postage and provide a very enjoyable afternoons entertainment, the least we can do is pick the orders up in a timely manner. *Cant see too much wrong with making a condition for collection or at least requesting that there is a clear communication line.
    Howzat!
