    Riverina Hookup?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Just wanted to see if there are enough like minded snobs who want to travel to Wagga (or already here) a few times a year for a get together? I can promise lots of toys to play with and when I have worked it out a KKTO as well.

Have a date and a venue in mind but PM if interested with ideas/suggestions/interest.

Well we have a couple of starters and I am thinking the first Sat in March (6th) not set in stone by any means. Thinking march as the venue might be a bit hot in Jan Feb.

    Re: Riverina Hookup?

Ok then Saturday March the 6th seems a goer at the moment, 11am is the proposed kick off time. So we will do a bit of a BBQ for lunch and plenty of coffee.

My ideas for the day are
    1. KKTO roaster demo
    2. Bring your blend/SO for everyone to try
    3. There will be a chemex, syphon, aeropress, stovetop and a couple of espresso machines to play with.
    4. Some different sized grinders (all flat burr atm)
    5. We can do some semi scientific experiments (eg old beans vs freshly roasted) Any other ideas very welcome

More ideas to come so if you are thinking about coming you are welcome, the more the merrier.

Damn--I thought at first glance this was to be in the Italian RIVIERA ;D and it sounded like a really great idea (albeit a bit expensive!)

Im afraid that Wagga just doesnt have the same attraction for me 8-)

Have just finished roasting myself, we will have a fair range of coffee to try and a real diversity in coffee experience coming as well. There is still plenty of room if anyone else is thinking about coming.

Gday Brett, John, Russ and wives,
    Thanks for a terrific day.
We got to compare 3 different roasters with the same bean, the interesting thing was how similar a Hottop, Gene Cafe and KK all turned out.
Its amazing how little and how much can be achieved on these get togethers. Looking forward to the next one.

Glad you enjoyed it Tom I had a blast and I think everyone else enjoyed themselves too. I felt like a kid in a candy store with $100 in my pocket, so many things to try and so little time. ;D ;D

We definitely need to do this again, am offering up the garage again if that suits. I am thinking in 2-3 months time?

    Brett, Russ, Thomas & Wives,
Thanks for the most fantastic Snobs get together in Wagga yesterday. Worth every minute of our 400k - drive there and back.
Gob smacking knowledge of home roasting, exchange of all things coffee and roasted beans.
The hands on experience with the 3 roasters metioned in tominozs post was great.
Meagan and Thomass filter coffee brewers were real eye openers.
Thanks to Brett, wife and family for opening their home to 2 complete strangers. We had instant comradory as everyone made us feel so wlecome to a day we will never forget. The BBQ lunch so enjoyable.
moto coffee has a fantstic work ethic for his passion of allthings coffee and the set up we used yesterday as you will see in the photos was just awesome.
The Affagato with kahlua (for the none- drivers) was a heavenly send off.
Thanks moto coffee and fellow snobs so looking forward to our next meeting.

The photo is Moto (Brett), Ross, Tominoz (Tom) and Herbie (John). BTW not sure how is was just the blokes in the photo as there were 4 other halves and 6 kids running about. ;D.

And for anyone interested the second photo is a technovorm (I think that is how it is spelt) brewing some yummy pourover.

Next Meeting of the Wagga branch of CS

I have pencilled in Sunday the 23rd of May for a get together at my place, have pmed the usual suspects but am more than happy for more to attend.

Will be looking for a theme this time (open to suggestions) so we can narrow down the field a little.

We have just made it home in the dark after our two and half hour trip back from another great day in Wagga hosted by motocoffee and family. Thanks so much to the Riverina C.Ss who came for a great day. Plenty of coffees, chats and knowledge exchanged. Will put up some photos of the day when settled back into routine. It is so good to have the comradery of such days with enthusiastic and very knowledgable C.S.s. [smiley=thumbsup.gif] Thanks motocoffee for making your home available again. Looking forward to another get together in the future.

Good to see everyone again, tried some interesting coffees and lots of great conversation.

Thanks Ross for bringing the left field ingredients for an attempt at a signature beverage (lots of ideas for next time).

Herbie (and Mrs Herbie) for the range of coffees, I am looking forward to another sample tomorrow morning.

Megan and Tom for their African coffees and the super jolly that appeared late in the day for a grind off.

We love having the snobs come over for a visit as it means we can enjoy our coffee so much more when it is shared with a group of passionate coffee snobs.

Due to work the next one wont be till late in the year but I look forward too it.

    Cheers

"motocoffee" *and his wondertful *family have opend up their house and made us feel so welcome. We just love this meet. Hopefully we will be able to greet more Riverina C.Ss next time. Here are a few photos of our last get together. *Herbie

    Re: Riverina Hookup?

What a fantastic way to learn about the wonderful world of coffees with a hook up of like mined C.S. folks. Motocoffee and his wonderful family based in Wagga have kindly opened their home as a meeting base for Riverina C.Ss this year. We have had a ball. Much is said about roasters on the C.S. website. Well we were able to watch a Gene, A Hottop and a KKTO in action at our first meet for the year. That was a great session. We exchanged the beans we had roasted and so advanced our pallets to even more flavours of coffee. At the second meet we continued on with learning more about each others coffee gear. The Aeropess was examined. An upside down brew or right way up. Cupping was done. It was also fantastic to listen to motocoffee as he told us aboout the folks he meets and serves coffee to on his daily rounds. We tasted Chai Lattes which some of his customers choose. Motocoffee has a very learned understudy in things coffee already and he helped push buttons on the coffee machine as we drank our way to heaven with cups of coffee from our bean pool.

    Riverina & Border Snobs Unite!!!

Time to start planning the next meeting of the minds, October is out for me due to work commitments but I thought we best start planning for November as calendars fill up pretty quickly at that time of year.

We would love to see some snobs from Albury etc (you know you want to come) there is plenty room and more than enough coffee stuff to play with.

PM me with some dates (some are blocked out already due to work arrrh!!!) and we can start planning.

Any ideas for a "theme" or otherwise will be greatly appreciated, I have some ideas but I would love to hear from others.

Look forward to hearing from you

    Cheers

    Brett

BTW as per usual the venue is my place in Wagga Wagga!!

Still working on a theme but I would love to play around with non espresso based coffee for the day. I am going to roast up some interesting coffees that I have in my stash and I hope to taste some yummy coffees people want to bring along.

Look forward to seeing you there.
