    Cuppacoffee - new website!

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi all

    We have a new website!

Its still a work in progress but Im very happy with the content. In time Ill add more content, including some real eye-openers regarding coffee equipment - what I like, what I dont, and why.

The website isnt a shopfront, and at this point, there are no plans that it ever will be.

Feel free to take a visit, and let me know what you think.

    Cheers
    Den

I like the new site. Just wondering why you dont have an image of a Macap when it could be one of the three images above the text? The one in the middle appears to be an imposter. Not a biggy, just something I noticed...

Ill blame that one on the developer...I had a laugh. Shes been working on this on an ad hoc basis and some of the original pics Id sent her need to be updated.

But thanks for noticing - well work on it.

I have to scroll to the right on my screen to see all of the page.

Other than that, I like it. Clean and simple.

The only other thing I can comment on visually (on my monitor at least) without going through all of the text, etc. is that the color choice for background makes me think large stone fruit rather than espresso. Peaches come to mind... :)

...disregard above, just checked and colours look good on my monitor at work.

Nice looking site, Den. Easy on the eyes, easy to navigate. Doesnt quite fit on my screen but, requiring slight scrolling to the right.

Maybe some pics of some beautiful pours from the elektra? Show what its all about?

    Good luck with it, mate.

    Hi Dennis

I like your new website and Im pretty fussy. Its clean and nicely laid out, the colour scheme is fine and the pages sensibly arranged. It fits on my screen fine.

Looks great, Dennis and is easy to navigate around. The information is succinct and to the point, clear to read and the message is put across well. There are good links to various pages and also great to see a familiar photo pop up in the gallery! ;) (actually a bit of a surprise and it was nice to see that it stands up well with the others!)

Nice. *[smiley=tekst-toppie.gif] Clean and very easy to navigate. Something that I have never been able to achieve on my own site and something I am working on at the moment. Trying to de-clutter, re-organise and re-create right now. Burning the midnight oil as we speak.

Without hijacking this thread, for people who have seen the old Espresso School website, would you be kind enough to PM me your thoughts on the new one. (Its a work in progress at the moment. I have only spent 5 or so hours tonight reworking it to its current form so content is pretty much the same)

Well done Den! A huge improvement on the old one and some great ideas coming through.

However, I was a little disappointed not too see a "Barista Venting" section....

    Re: Cuppacoffee - new website!

My 2 cents, from a web site managers point of view...

Looks great, perhaps a few more details on the specific machines, grinders etc you stock wouldnt go astray. Could pick up more search traffic that way (eg. a page for Compak grinders targeting the term "compak coffee grinders".

From an SEO (search engine optimisation, which is something i do for a living) perspective, the site appears to not have had any work done on this (eg. the front page has a page title "Welcome to CuppaCoffee" - not ideal at all - i would have something like "CuppaCoffee - Sydney Coffee Roastery & Espresso Bar, Machine & Grinder Sales/Service). That is a title which matches your content and people searching for those things are more likely to find you if you optimise the homepage.

You could probably attract a decent amount of search traffic by spending a few minutes optimising page titles and content around search terms you may wish to target, and thus attain new customers who would have otherwise missed your site.

Overall, good site. If you have a nice looking shop front a photo of that might add to the feel of the site also.

I agree David. To explain, most of my internet sales have been AeroPress, followed by coffee. First timers that buy coffee soon thereafter, tend to call or email to find out what SOs are currently on offer as they do vary.

I then ship it out and they do a direct transfer. And 9 times out of 10 the customer receives their coffee well before the funds hit my account. Im pleased that I can work on a trust basis and have never been dudded. Coffee people are nice people.

Ideally, Id like the website to provide information. One of the things Im really keen on doing that I mentioned above, is to provide a list of equipment that Ive either personally used and familiar with, repaired, etc. and include my opinion on the pros and cons. Some people wont like what they read - probably manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers. Other people may thank me - probably people about to spend their hard-earned on some coffee gear and dont want to get stuck with something like a thermonuclear HX, or waste their money on a pseudo Barista course that has a ratio of 20 people to one trainer.

I dont want someone buying a coffee machine from me online without both of us feeling comfortable that theyve made a good choice that suits their needs and that they have the capacity to use it. For example, I just wouldnt be able to sleep at night knowing Id sold a customer a Silvia when a Lelit would have been better for their needs, or vice versa. And in a situation like that, I think it would rapidly harm my reputation. So I guess Id prefer an enquiry over an immediate sale. Who knows though, I might change my mind about the idea of a web shop one day, though what I currently do keeps me pretty busy.

What I would suggest is having a shopping cart (which is well within possibility with heaps of great extensions out there for Joomla) and have coffee listed and other paraphernalia such as the Aeropress only. For machines, you could have them listed but set to enquire about only.

Once money reaches your bank account, then send the beans and goodies. Why risk getting burnt, even if it is a few dollars?

    Re: Cuppacoffee - new website!

That sounds like a good idea David...thankyou. Ill give it some more thought.

Re the risk, it proven to be non-existent to date, and I prefer giving people the benefit of the doubt.

More importantly, when are you going to make your way to Sydney so that I can host an Espresso School event? :)
