Different sized Non Valved Bean Bags

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Not sure if there is any others here that might like them but some smaller bags without vents, mainly for preground. 2 sizes maybe 100g for samples or taking to work to 200-250g for giving away or sales if thats your thing.

Reasons a bit cheaper than valved bags and should keep a little fresher without the vent with preground.

I am up for 10 of each size anyone else?

Sounds like a great idea beanflying. Count me in too. Definately up for the 100g - 25 of them should do me well.

    Cheers

Huh? De-gasing is the same (but faster), the only difference is that a fine grind will block the valve. The lack of vent wont make ground fresher.

I think I already have some small bags that might suit, the Chai "oval window, no valve". Ill have a look when Im at the Snobbery.

cheers Andy and welcome back by now I hope :)

I know its only a touch cheaper, thought it was worth seeing if there was any interest.

From what I have observed in the valved bags they seem to allow gas out and seem to allow some back in so the only thinking is that when giving people preground you may be able to slow the stale thing a little by keeping air out? The only other bags might be the kraft paper ones with lining and the wire locks.

If they are the same 200g? window bags you had at wicked Sunday last year then they would do the job I just didnt want 100 from a commercial bag supplier :)

Yeah i give out preground in non valved bags, if i know its not too long until they are opened, i heat seal my bags too. Ive found that if they are kept in non valved bags too long and if they were bagged and sealed straight after roasting that the CO2 smell is overwhelming and taints the coffee......

Do you heat seal your bags BF? if not, im pretty sure the air is entering through the zip lock(they dont seal well at all on their own), not the one-way valve..... unless some grounds are getting caught in the one way valve and holding it open?

Normally the only preground I do is for family or friends and it is going to be consumed in the next day or two so I wouldnt tend to seal. Normally only grinding rested beans too not fresh from the roaster. While the ziplocks are not perfect for a few days open and shut they are a pretty good way of storing coffee.

That said I do heat seal for my own use sometimes as due to busy times at work I sometimes roast every couple of weeks rather than weekly so I seal the ones I want to reast a little longer the bags I want to start using 4 or 5 days post roast there is not much point as they are all gone inside of 10-12 normally :)
