    The Horrors Of Night Shift

    Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Ok, I drink instant coffee. Its like cordial. I dont really consider it coffee in the same way orange cordial isnt orange juice...but I do drink it.

    But what happens when instant coffee tries to masquerade as (of all drinks) a cappuccino?

    Behold!

    The cup was full to the brim. I tried to drink it but couldnt get past a few mouthfuls and ended up throwing it away.

    The foam had a really really weird chalky taste. I swear I tasted whey (the stuff you find in bodybuilding supplements). That cardboard aftertaste in the foam was a serious put off. Like fake orange pulp in orange cordial.

    I dont know what kind of emulsifier they used to stabilize the foam, but it had THE WORST MOUTHFEEL ever. The foam didnt go away, despite haiving lots of big bubbles on top, there was actually a layer of dense foam underneath it that didnt seem to dissipate...even when the drink reached room temp, by which time I threw it away shortly after taking the picture. It was possibly whey protein + artificial creamer + some kind of emulsifier.

    Next I went to the pantry and guess what I found. Nescafe Espresso.

    Twas a caffeine deprived night for me.

    Cant you take a plunger or an Aeropress to work with some real coffee? Its just as easy as instant but it actually tastes like coffee.

    I dont know how you can get instant past your lips, let alone smelling it. In one way you are a lucky person!

    Yep a hand grinder and a way of filtering (Aeropress, plunger, pour over, swiss gold filter, syphon if your work allows open flame..etc) is the way to go.
    If you are real lazy.... cold press. Once prepared it its easier then instant.

    Well it was raining.... Cold.... And the bellman has a small bottom and with teh slightest touch and or vibration it falls off the gas burner..

    So after two major mishaps and milk and coffee being sprayed every where...

    The camp Master.... Cracked and banished the two CSér to;

    Instant (with lashings of special light golden RUM).

    PS. We are making up special legs to allow a better chance on the next trip ;D
