The most expensive coffee in Australia?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Guys!

I dont usually buy coffee out anymore (since I became a coffee snob after acquiring my Miss Silvia 4 months ago) - But today I had a coffee out with an ex-work mate at the Westin Hotel Bar/Cafe in Melbourne and paid a whopping $5 for a long mack!

I would have made a scene, but it was beautifully presented (perfectly proportioned three layers - coffee, dash of milk and just a tiny bit of foam on top) and it tasted pretty good too (BTW they used Vittoria beans)). It aslo came with a water chaser and a small choc chip cookie and service with a smile. So maybe it was worth it?

Keen to hear what the most others have paid for coffees, and whether it was worth it. Maybe we can find out what the most expensive coffee in Australia is. :)

    Look forward to your posts..

One wonders why you would need a water chaser for a long mack, but the Choc Chip cookie and the service with a smile is probably worth it..

I had an espresso at The Lake House for $7 or so, and the beans were Vittoria :o. *The barista had some good skills because the shot was very nice. ;D

Sheesh, if that was the promotion price, imagine what the normal price would be *:o.
The special beans that they brought in might have been Civet, but for that price they could have imported the whole cat, not just the beans ::).

Well have to see what Michels charge for a cup of the CoE bean they bought recently at record price. They will have to charge more than usual. Whats the guess $5-$7 for a single?

That reminds me . . . I tried one of their coffees at my local shopping centre. I wasnt expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. Even though the staff were 12-year olds the pour was good, the milk was textured well and the blend tasted fresh. I feel a bit more confident of a satisfactory Cup of Excellence experience when it comes around.

Yeah, I reckon it might be about $7 for a C of E single.

    Cheers,

    Rob

Could he be sent to Richmond (Syd)? I was there recently, for work not pleasure, and thought I would try the local fair from a service provider. My mistake. I should have realised when I saw the shot being poured into a rancid unwashed cup to be dispensed into my take away. It was all over so fast she actually for got to charge me. It was pretty busy. After the first mouthful, which I partly returned to the cup, I thought I would leave it there since I didnt pay. Hideous. >:(
