Ditto. No need to do anything special. Coffee and vanilla ice cream. The tastier the ice cream the tastier the affogato. Real vanilla bean ice cream is great. Got an affogato at gelato a month ago. Coffee was crap icecream amazing!!!!

Tried this one at home when i was bored. If you cant manage to make your own ice cream, buy a premium vanilla ice cream from a supermarket. (usually those 1 litre things)

This recipe is great if shared with others.

Divide the ice cream into 3 separate containers.
Leave for 5-7 minutes to slightly soften.
In one, blend in a blender the ice cream with Kahlua to your taste.
In the second, blend with Baileys to your taste.
In the third, blend with Frangelico to your taste.

Using martini glasses (failing that, use a wine glass) put one scoops of each into the glass, then offer espresso in separate espresso cups by the side of the glasss and let guests pour it in themselves.

    Enjoy, and Merry Christmas.

    Gary. :)

    Thanks to everyone.

I kept it simple as most of you recommended for the first course.

I snuck of and made Garys one with the Kahlua ... towards the end of the night.

    Thanks all

Hopefully that Kahlua would counteract the effects of the caffeine hit at that end of the night GrindIT, or ease you into a state of euphoria to induce sleep. :D
The great things about affogatos is that you can serve it up as a dessert if you want to keep it simple. Perhaps an extra scoop to make it a bit more substantial. :)
